Start with a server, I recommend XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html)
Then you'll also need a static ip and a fast internet connection. It's best to have a PC dedicated to hosting too.

You need to make sure that your internet provider allows you to host websites. Some do, some dont. If yours doesnt your internet could be cut off if your site starts getting enough attention.

Hmmm, strange, works for me. You could try downloading apache and then adding php and mysql etc.. to it but that's a lot harder as it all comes in one package with xampp.

No need for any impatience, someone will reply. You need to put files into the htdocs folder and then view them through the url http://localhost/filename.html
I don't know about phpbb, check the read me.

You best bet is to goto somewhere like afraid.org or noip.org and get them to give a sub domain for you site, then point the sub domains a record at your homeserver's IP.

Also to run PHP, goto PHP.NET and install the PHP package.

Get a static ip and then point a domain to it or direct people directly to the domain.

the no-ip solutin is a fun way to try first if your into the freebies. i use it for desktop remote and i dont have to pay extra for a static ip
