I stayed up late last night playing with the Net install for opensuse 10.1, and decided to write a short "how to" on it. Thought I would share it with you....

The Newbie Guide to the FTP install of OpenSUSE 10.1
http://opensuse.us/viewtopic.php?t=149

This is the 4th "Newbie Guide" for Network Installation (FTP Install) of a version of Suse.
This guide is in particular for the OpenSUSE 10.1 distribution, using the 35 MB mini.iso , and even more specifically the i386 version used by most pc's. The ppc and the x64 versions should be similar, but i have not personally tried either.

The original "Newbie Guides" for Network Installation (FTP Install) were written because at the time Novell wasn't offering downloads of complete iso files, and it was significantly more complicated for someone new to Linux to accomplish this without some clarification and guidance. Novell has since changed their policy on releasing iso files, and has eliminated much of the need for doing FTP installs, but they do have their place. Instead of downloading over 4 GB's worth of data, it is possible to reduce the number and size of the files needed to do a minimal install with the FTP installation. The basic principle is the same as it was for the very first guide that was written for doing this, but since some things change a bit with time, we will do this step-by-step, in order to make this FTP Install clear as mud for you.

more at the above link..... several images and alot more text.
