Why isn't my page being served!????

I want to server my webpage! I got IIS running!

when I write localhost in the explorer window it works!

then, when I write ipconfig.exe in the command prompt I get something like this:

IP Address.................: 62.249.162.97


I try //62.249.162.97 in exporer - FINE! :D

but then when YOU write //62.249.162.97 in your explorer you don't find anything!!!!!! :crying: :confused: why not??????

That is because the name is resolved to a local machine in the hosts file. the IP however isn't a name and the explorer will not go to it because of a firewall exit and re-entry?

thanks for your reply - unfortunately I don't understand much.

Could anyone care to explain what "hosts file" and "firewall exit and re-entry" is - or where I can get information on these topics?

And perhaps - what do I have to do to get my webpage served??? (from my machine of course)

shut down your firewall. Try it then. Does it work? good. Put your firewall back up (because its working and you don't want me to have access by running something like "telnet 62.249.162.97") refer to your firewall manuel on opening the "ports" you want to run your IIS through.

sweet! your looking at my work area basically, it's an index.php you're looking at that lists all my projects by folder name. The mysql database isn't working but I think I can fix that now, port 3306 right?

I added to your database, so if this is the database you're talking about, seems to be working, although i'm not sure that's a good thing!
