View Full Version : Apache 2.2 not reading index.php as default

Apahce 2.2 is not loading any index.php files as default. Now, before you tell me to simply set my directorylisting accordingly, or an .htaccess file, I have done both. It reads .html indexs but if a .php is the index then it gives me a directory listing and it is annoying the heck out of me. Again, I have my httpd.conf set up correctly so I am completely at a loss as to what to do. You all may be as well but any help would be greatly appreciated.
That being said, if I type the full URL (e.g. http://localhost/test/index.php) then it works but I must include the index.php into the URL.

so in the httpd.conf file did you mean this
DirectoryIndex
make sure index.php is listed first, not last.

Yep, that is what I meant and index.php is leading. I have never seen this before. I found one other person on the internet, through a google search, who has had this problem but no one responded to his thread so still no solution.

Then I would back rev to apache 2.0. Seems to be a bug.

Thanks, I figured that is what I would have to do but I wanted to know if there was a known solution.

After you edit httpd.conf you always have to remember to restart apache web server.

If only they had known, five years ago. :|
I know this has been up before, but could we discuss a function to lock threads after X days/weeks/months and add a 'requesting unlocking - I have vital information'-button attached to it? :-]
