Hello, I recently downloaded Puma (incase you don't know, its a software used to password protect pages, comes with admin panel.) and for it to work, it requires me to CHMOD the folder its in to 777. It is in a subdomain, does doing this pose any security risks??

It could possibly cause some security risks. With the permissions at 777 that means that everyone can read, write and execute the files. I am suprised that they dont want the permissions to be 755 which would give you permission to rwe, but others could only re.

Is Puma using a sub-directory to keep it's data?
Perhaps this folder is chmoded to 644 ???
