Hi all,

Visit : http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/3497/untitled8mn.jpg

Whenever I attempt to preview script-based pages in IE 6.0, this crappy bar shows up in my IE window, and I gotta right-click it and choose "Allow this page to access my computer" everytime!

Is there any way to get rid of it, so that whenever I preview JavaScript pages, the bar won't show up at all?
I've even set my browser security to Low(which is dangerous), but in vain.

Thanks,
Xeon.

Same thing happens to me here. I forgot what I did that seemed to fix it... let me check again.

here, was having problems and noticed that it only happened when I ran javascript on files on my computer, javascript on the web seemed fine. Looked around and found this in Tools, Internet Options, under the Advanced tab.

Hi there Xeon,

you can also put a snippet of code, similar to this...

<!-- saved from url=(0017)http://mysite.com -->

...directly after the DOCTYPE if you do not wish to alter your Internet Options Settings.

Here (0017) refers to the number of characters in the url.

Thanks Piperwolf and Coothead! :)

But what OS and IE version are you using, Piper?
My Internet options dialog box differs from yours! Here : http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/9707/untitled8vv.jpg
I'm running Windows XP service pack 2 and IE 6.0.

Lastly, CootHead, what kind of code is that? Is it an IE-specific command? Doesn't look like HTML, ASP, ASP.Net, CSS, XHTML, XML, XSLT, PHP, JavaScript, JSP or DSSL to me. :D;)

Thanks for the help!
Xeon.

Hi there Xeon,
Is it an IE-specific command?
Well, of course it is. Your problem is with Windows XP service pack 2 and IE 6.0., hence it will require a MS solution. :agree:

Though if you are willing to turn off this feature.
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security > Unchecked the box labeled "Allow active content to run from files on My Computer" > Click OK and the warning won't occur anymore but this now leaves you open to files already on your system that could be viruses.

From Aero:
Though if you are willing to turn off this feature.
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security > Unchecked the box labeled "Allow active content to run from files on My Computer" > Click OK and the warning won't occur anymore but this now leaves you open to files already on your system that could be viruses.
Thanks all, but unfortunately, Aero, my option box doesn't have this "Allow active content to...." check box. I've attached a screenshot in my previous post in this thread. ;)

Will try the Mark of the Web comment. :D:D
Microsoft can indeed come up with cool names. ;)

Good day,
Xeon.

Hmm seems like you might have an outdated version of IE or you don't have administrative rights. What version of IE do you have? You can find out in the help menu > about.
