The X-box will do extremely well...until people realize Microsoft cannot produce anyhting that does not come full of bugs:D I think that the Game Cube will do better (isn't it like $100 cheaper, or is it $100 more???).

Knowing microsoft I think it will be better than PS2. I will propably get it as soon as I get a new computer.

I think that a lot of the people that buy it are going to only be buying it for the name.

Or alot of people will be buying it for the great (http://xbox.ign.com/previews/16254.html) games (http://xbox.ign.com/previews/16249.html) coming (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=210028) to the Xbox.

The Xbox will sell just fine in a prosperous third place.

Yep the cube will be 100.00 cheaper when it comes out in Canada, X-Box will blow away the compitition within a year or so.

the x-box it only a glorified computer. it has a hard drive and everything. the NGC will blow it away and PS2 too, no I am not partial to nintendo. :D

why by the x-box when you already have one you are working on right in front of you?? and you can easily update your computer then you can a x-box.

Obviously won't bomb, it's a Microsoft thing, hype is built around it enough to make everyone want to buy it, I've seen the screenshots, even watched Bill try to act cool with 'The Rock' during a presentation, but all in all, I'd have to see it first...What I've read so far is basically a release of a small computer, they all are(Sony is releasing a monitor, mouse and keyboard for PS2)
I dunno, I just don't trust Microsoft too much lately(I don't think I'm buying XP either :-(

That's my opinion anyway, though it's 4am and I just formatted my HD and had to re-install Windows twice tonight...

i'm a die-hard PSX fanatic. i cannot in good conscience let Microsoft ruin things (again). i'm seriously thinking of going to Seattle to settle this, Jay & Silent Bob style.

Who's with?

I am most definitely.

Six bullets:
1. Saddam Hussein
2. Bill Gates
3. N'Sync (I'll take them all out with one shot)
4. Michael Jackson
5. Anne Robinson
6. George W Bush (I dunno if anybody likes him. If they do, they can line up with him and I'll take them down too).

And I'll blow up the entire consigment of X-Boxes too.

It's the only way to stop Planet Earth being bought by Microsoft and being turned into MicroWorld.

You may laugh now - but it could happen.

What's wrong w/ Bush. He's better than Gore. Gore wanted to get rid of all dams. Hmmmm...this may result in some problems. I hope you people don;t like aluminum;).

I never said I didn't like Gore. Besides, I'm British and under 40, so I hate politics. From any country. And I'm ignorant too. Please forget the bullet I had for George W Bush - I'll save it instead for Mr. Ben Affleck. I hate that guy in the most extreme way possible. Watch his head explode.

Oh yeah, and to stop this from qualifying as Spam, I don't really care which console becomes most popular, so long as none of them have to cease production. The death of the Dreamcast was sad indeed, as it did have alot of good games. So long as the games market stays competetive, things will just get better.

X-Box ??? wonder how much that one gonna cost, anyway will probably way to expensive. Buying a computer to play game is a waist of money, especially when you investing 2 or 3 000 $ in it.

PS2 / Sega / S Nintendo are specifically made for that and they run much better, and cost alot less. If you wanna play a game at least invest your money wiselly by buying one of those machine.

that my opinion

Personally I think that getting a computer is wiser than getting a game console. You can get a very good computer for $400 and a good monitor for around 130. This will stay with you a long time unlike a game console. If will also have all the games that conoles have except much better. Allthough I am aiming to buy the Xbox as it looks very good and interesting.
Thanks,
Paul

you paid $2000-$3000 for your computer ??? you got ripped off. :D I have about $900 in mine and I can play almost all the games. I didn't build it for the games though, as I do work on it. but I think that the graphics are better on the computer than the consoles. maybe that will change with the x-box and NGC. I have all the nintendos and will buy the NGC. as for the x-box, I already own one, (my computer) :D
and the games are cheaper on the computer compared to the consoles.

I know everyone is anticipating my detailed assessment of the situation, so here it is.

first off, every game console is a computer. your microwave is a computer.

the playstation sold 100 million units in America alone. It went from critics saying it would fade into obscurity behind the sega saturn and nintendo 64, to beating them both. To a lot of pale skinned folks, the psx is the only thing in video gaming. You combine that with its earlier release date than the gamecube or xbox, the ps2 will come out on top.

that leaves us with the xbox and gamecube both coming out in november. the gamecube's release date has been pushed back to after the xbox's. this will help both consoles. the xbox will get a boost in sales by coming out before the gamecube drains people's pockets. the gamecube will come out during the busy thanksgiving shopping season.

xbox sales will still be slower than the gamecube's at first. a lot of people will probably adopt a wait an see policy with it and get recommendations from owners on how good it is.

i don't doubt that the xbox will be a good system. they've lined up a a hefty amount of developers who've seen how the system works and were willing to make games for them instead of the other two. and while it will cost $100 more than the gamecube, its games are going to be about $10 cheaper than the gamecube's.

the gamecube will beat the xbox, the question is by how much. it all depends on how well the xbox works, which will probably be quite well. but the xbox has the most to prove from gamers and doesn't have a a loyalty base like the psx or 64. it won't pull off what sony did five years ago, but it should sell just fine.

again, the rank will be.

1. PSX 2
2. Game Cube
3. XBox

this will not, of course, end the debate, which is sure to be argued by many geeks to come.

well, Gamecube is $.05 cheaper then the price on the games for the x-box. they are selling for $49.95 for GC, $49.99 for x-box.

Gamecube will be in stores on Nov. 18 (sunday) for $199 (last I heard)
X-box will be in stores on Nov. 8th (thursday) for $299

I was very loyal to Nintendo, heh, since I had every system they came out with, and I even had Mario Bros. for the Atari 2600, I refused to buy a PSX, but that changed rather quickly, the PSX is still the master(Dreamcast just came out like 6-12 months ago and the Playstation still beat it, even though it's older) and the PS2 offers Backward compatibility to play your PSX games on it, making your dozens or hundreds of games NOT worthless, such as the N64...And I never had faith in Sega after the whole Saturn incident, they were insane to release it at $500.

I think XBOX might come in just ahead of the GameCube because, even though it's a Microsoft Product and not trusted by all, loyalty fades to Power, speed and games(such as my loyalty to Nintendo)
