Hello,
I purchased custom written program. I can see that this program has links somewhere. I know that for a fact because it shows me some news that changes all the time. I hate it but I like the program.
How can I find out where it links to?
I think I should be able to cut off that communication (after I find the IP address) but if you have any suggestions, I would like to read them.
Thank you.

You could check the source code? They normally point the links :)

Don't you have it on your PC?!
And, can't you just View -> Source in your browser?

No, cannot. It shows something like "this page is protected".
I have full access to the webserver. Is that any way to find it checking logs? Or something else?

If you have full access, you can download the .php file, then open them in Notepad.

if you open the source in the web browser and scroll down what code do you see? besides the "this page is protected" part.
and what does this have to do with linux administration?

Nothing as far as I can gather, but I check this place quite often, as I like to answer Linux threads. Anyhow, I have tried to answer his problem, but I cannot really seem to help. Never heard of a website he OWNS, and has FULL access to via FTP, but he CANNOT download and open them in Notepad. I don't get it really :burnt:

the php files can be encoded with the zend encoder or IonCube. whcih means you cannto view the php code. but you should still see the html part of it in view->source

....and what does this have to do with linux administration?
Maybe I posted it in the wrong place. I hoped that using Linux logs I could find the link, that is why I posted it here.
If I view source, it shows me those news like it is part of the page. Just the text inside the table. Nothing unusual.
Thank you.

nope, if it is encoded it will not show you even in log files.
