I did for the first domain I bought. Have had no problems.

Then I smartened up and realized that you don't have to pay $35 for a name!

I had trouble when I switched from register.com to a new registrar. When I transferred the domain name that I originally registered with them, they deleted the entry altogether until godaddy created a new one. The domain name was not accessible on the web for a full 2 days. I was lucky that it was not important. I'd suggest paying $8.95 at godaddy.com, and saving a bundle ;)
