Hey all, I am a my wits end with this issue and figured maybe someone here might have a solution. This is NOT the old "my menus are below my Flash" question, not even close!
This issue is only happening in IE 5.5 and 5.0 (PC) and on AOL browsers (pc and mac) and on MAC Safari ONLY.
On this page:
www.dcpromotionsltd.com/index.php
You will notice a "right now" has 3 CD covers and the artists name and the CD name. If you hover over the artists menu item a dhtml drop menu will show up and the Flash completely disappears until you let the menu close.
Normally I wouldn't put too much into this but this client runs 100% MAC and to make matters worse they all use AOL.
Again I am at my wits end and am hoping someone here has seen this an knows how to fix it!
Thanks much.

I actually suggest finding an alternative menu. Having a menu that relies completely on javascript isn't a good idea. At first I couldn't even see your menu because I disable javascript. http://www.alistapart.com/articles/dropdowns/

Yeah that's what I normally use (and did at first) but the customer hated them so we went with this sothink one. And at this point I'm not sure the CSS menus will not do the same thing!

Why did they hate them? They can be styled to look just like the js menu you had. I bet they won't even notice. Tell them they will still work on most browsers even if javascript is disabled. Currently now if the user has javascript disabled the whole site becomes useless because users can't navigate it.

There were major issues with IE 5.1 and something else (forget which browser)
Trust me this is the first tabled site I've done in years, I do everything in tableless CSS layouts with as little javascript (if any) as possible .... I know CSS inside and out and know exactly what I can and can't do ... this is the last site I have left before I get out of this rinky dink website business (I'm an applications developer) and it's been sitting on my machine for way too long
I've been down this road already .... this is the 2nd time I've redone this layout for them and it aint happening again

I don't have any of those browsers to test and give you any real insight, but my gut reaction is that it's a hasLayout issue, at least in IE. This article might give you some ideas:
