ya, you're better off with like clicktrade or something. You get paid whether you sell or not, you get paid for a click.

If you have traffic below around 500 hits a day, a pay-per-click program is probably more worthwhile. But if you have pretty good traffic, and relevant sponsors, pay-per-sale offers, like cdnow and amazon.com can be more profitable. Between pay-per-click and pay-per-sale is the pay-per-lead category. These offers pay you for each person you get to sign up for offers that are usually free. Because of this, conversion rates are much better than sales, and revenue is about $1 per lead.
