I'm lost, please help, if you can.....Newbie at networking (real newbie).
USRobotics 8001 router with print server. Both computers (Dells) are "wired" to router. Both puters can access internet, share files, etc.

Now, the problem is getting my printer (HP940c) to work from the print server. I have followed USR instructions (countless times---WinXP), used several different IP addresses (have no idea what the printer address is or how to find it but used IP's found in router's interface, default Gateway adress----you name it----I've tried it!

The printer works fine on both computers when "shared" through Windows. I thought that I must be using the wrong IP; but, as mentioned earlier, I have no idea what the printer's address is or how to find it.

What am I doing wrong? Many thanks for any suggestions...........Lee

As i have my little experience with Network printers, you dont search for printer ip, you set it yourself.
Look your printer manual how to set the printer ip.

does the router have a way to auto print the printers configuration? if not then you will have ot set it as Vege suggests. if you can't set the printer to have an ip then you can't use it as a printer on the print server. unless you can set it in the router. not sure as I don't use that one.

read this, it may help

more importantly, read the top of that page
