recently (last night) , i setup a webserver in my room and then instaleld apache on it. in the installation, i used localdomain, localhost. Im learning more every minute on how to manage the server, however, one thing that is confusing me is that i can type http://localhost into my browser and get the apache pge, however , i do not know how to make this server accesable to anyone inside my house. do i need to open a port on my router and then reinstall using localhost:#### (wutever port i opened) or is there something im misssing.

hey I just recently did the same thing....I have no idea how to answer your question, but just wondering, have you installed php5 onto your server yet? It's not working for me, and I'm doing it through a book.

Thanks, hope you find your answer.

forward port 80 to the IP of the computer with apache in your router, make sure its able to serve (no firewall for that port)

but if u are on windows, you should be able to type

//computerNameThatIsRunningApache in the address of the browser and if other comps are networked right it should show up

//computerNameThatIsRunningApache
gives
HTTP 403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden
