Smtp

I am experiencing a problem with SMTP servers. I have recently designed a site for a client and uploaded it to my preferred host. The problem is that my host does not provide an SMTP server and my client's ISP is AOL which also do not support SMTP servers. Consequently, they can receive mail through the pop server provided by my host but cannot send email using this account.
The obvious solution is to get them to change their ISP but they are reluctant to do this.
Does anyone have any ideas ? Are there any SMTP servers available for free use ?
