windows xp home runing slow

im running windows xp home edition on about a 3 yr old machine. however when im using a psp server for music...limewire...everynow and then if im listening to a song it will start skipping real bad.is this a ram problem? whats some things i can do to speed it up a little bit? please help

p2p software is generally very intensive, possibly because of the spyware it usually contains, but mainly because it's checking for connections.

More memory would probably help you a bit, firstly you could try defragging the computer, making sure there is no spyware on it, doing all sorts.

Really, p2p doesn't have many legitimate uses so just be careful.
