View Full Version : Winner of the HTMLforums T-Shirt Contest Announced!

After some laughs, tears, kicks, and screams, I’m happy to announce that the HTMLforums T-Shirt contest winner has been selected! This competition had many good submissions, however the final race was very close between the submission by Kitti:
http://www.htmlforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6147
and this entry submitted by Mandelbrot:
http://www.htmlforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6177
So what was I looking for and what made the final decision? For the T-Shirt contest I was looking to be impressed without giving specific direction to follow ;) I wanted to see what ideas the community could churn out that would demonstrate how they looked at the forums without being influenced in one direction or another. The above two entries both showed a clever twist, and also stayed true to the nature of HTMLforums. So who wins this one? It’s a two way tie! We’ll be printing both T-Shirts and sending a free T-Shirt to each winner of their own design! So head over to Café Press both of you and select the T-Shirt (please keep the apparel to T-Shirts only) that you would like to have your winning design printed on and let me know.
The available apparel to select a T-Shirt from can be found below:
http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/products/apparel
These designs will then be made print friendly (retouching of your designs may be necessary for this process) and the completed versions will be sent out as soon as the print friendly designs are ready. Thanks to all who participated, it’s been great fun :)

Woooohah!!! That's the first comp I've ever won!!
Kitti - well done! Love the catchphrase - very witty!
Yippeeeee!!!
Thanks to Jason and the Judges, ...
thanks to all my fans * mandelbrot holds up his oscar, oscar growls and runs away *...
thanks to infinity and Darwin! LOL! * mandelbrot winks at Horus *
Jason, I believe my design would look best on the Ringer t-shirt. Would you like a copy of the PSD? Edison may need retouching, but the rest should be a fairly straightforward resize (maybe a little bit of play with the HTML...).

Yep, the PSD would be helpful.

By the way.. This T-shirt, even if released in the US, I won't be able to get one... :'-( I don't guess they ship to denmark.. Could i possibly get the psd in better quality, if you have it, so I can go to a printer and get my own? I'm in love with this design ;-)

Hi Nox,
I'm sure Jason will be able to sort something out so that the dedicated followers of HTMLF will be able to get one!

Congrats both of you ^^ ..I'd actually buy both...cause I cant deciede which one is my favorite!
As far as shipping issues...I'm sure someone here would accomodate sending a shirt to you Nox -- the postage and such would have to be worked out...but I'm sure that theres a few people who wouldn't at all be against placing the order and re-shipping it ;)..for anyone "out of bounds", for that matter.
*note: I haven't actually looked into cafepress's shipping rules.

puffin, and ye other international people keen on the order:
Yes, we do ship to most international locations. All orders are shipped via UPS and take anywhere from 8 to 14 business days for delivery, depending on your delivery address. Please refer to the following link for our international shipping prices and delivery times: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/shipping.aspx#5 when it's all set up, i'll buy my share of htmlforums.. mmm to own stock.. err.. wait.. hmm.. well, at least something branded.. :D
once it's all finished, we ought to start a thread with pics of us wearing the shirts ;)

Sweet idea!
Any idea as to how much the T-shirt will cost (without shipment?) In $ will be fine.
:D Cannot wait to look real geeky! :D

Is it just me... Or does all the info on the one shirt seem to be in tables? :P

It is in tables, Disturbed. *g* It's what most people use for template designs. ;)

The code I've used to design the t-shirt was actually taken from the HTMLForums website - direct copy and paste into Photoshop, so you could say the shirt i HTMLForums through and through!
It also gives the wave look that I wanted, being indented like that.

Hey Guys,
The T Shirts are still going forward. There were some issues with the print quality regarding the resolution, however we hope to have them ready son.

Sorry for bumping the thread, Jason, but I'd really like this T-shirt, and I was wondering whether it has been forgotten, or what?

If you didn't bump it, I would have nox. There were some problems with the mascot resolution, which was only resolved very recently. The completed t-shirt designs created in the proper resolution are scheduled to be available this week. The t-shirts may be available (both to the contest winners and for purchase by forum members) this week or next. The designs will also be applied to a variety of other cafe press products. Stay tuned.

Sorry man, but (again, no offence) it would look really really silly on me.. i just don't suit the style. However, I wear quite a few like Kitti's, so that would fit in well :)
Again, no offence... ;)

The shop is now opened! Both t shirt designs are available, along with many other types of products featuring the designs. A basic HTMLforums logo is also available. The shop will be further updated with more designs in the foreseeable future.

I don't know about you, (If I was a girl) I would feel a little weird wearng a "Behind the Code" Thong.
Thirsty Ferret
06-10-2006, 09:22 AM
Nothing wrong with wearing a thong of your favourite forum... so long as you are a girl :P
mandelbrot
06-12-2006, 05:56 AM
Yes - I heard that the 'Behind the Code' phrase is written down the string!
Didn't come out quite as I wanted, though, guys - Jason told me that the people who do the t-shirts only print on a 10x10 square in the middle, so my design's a bit wasted, unfortunately... :(
Never mind - it doesn't look too bad still...
nox-Hand
06-12-2006, 06:14 AM
I must admit, that is a bummer. I considered asking you, mandelbrot, for the psd or something and checking whether I could get this printed in DK, as it would be cool with it about the collar, and the code being larger :D

06-12-2006, 06:23 AM
Well, I can give you a copy of the original, the only problem is that Edison is a bit grainy. It'll take some work to get him large enough. Also, there may now be copyright issues - you'd need to seek permission from Jason...
nox-Hand
06-12-2006, 06:48 AM
Hmm, I shall think about that.. :|
If I don't get permission to use Edison, then I might consider just.... Well, asking you whether I could be allowed to remove Edison and add something else HTML'ish pending your accept.
