Only getting 100 hits a month...

My site, www.freakshowmusic.co.uk, is only getting 100 hits a month but I'm putting loads of content onto it almost daily. How do I get more hits - I submit to search engines all the time and have set up a few link exchanges.

I need help...

Sorry, I tried to reply to this thread yesterday but it wouldn't let me. :( Also for anyone who couldn't get your link to work in the first post, there's a comma at the end that needs removing to make it work.

I admit I don't know much about site promotion techniques but since you have frequent updates to your site, have you thought about doing a regular newsletter that people can subscribe to. That's a good way of ensuring people keep returning to your site.

Link exchanges it what I would advise.

Set up a few.

Also, to encourage return visitors, add a 'Add to favourites' link on your site, so that visitors can add your site to their favourites with one click.

A newsletter would also be a good idea.

Yeah. Deanosrs, I know you said you have already done a few link exchanges but do some more and make sure they are with sites that get a decent amount of traffic themselves, otherwise it is pointless.

You can change the appearance of the add to favourites link by changing the bits in bold:

You might also, especially if you post to a variety of forums, try creating a sig that includes a link to your site in it.

I've also found that joining web rings can increase visitors to a site. And deffinately agree on the newsletter idea. Start with like friends and family (if they are interested).

Other thngs I've tried (with varying degree's of sucess): Mentioning my site to anyone and everyone I get the chance to, creating business cards and dropping them when I go out to diner or lunch; if your in school, tell teachers about your site (heck put the URL on your homework if you can find a way!), get friends to tell friends and/or co-workers about the site.

This is stuff I've tried over the past ummm... three years. I think my site atarted off with maybe 50 or 60 hits a MONTH... now I can be happy with over 2,000 a month. No, its not a lot of traffic... but its more then it had been. :)

Umm , go to the page in my sig, and join the little program on the front page, it gets me 1 hit every 6 times I open a browser. So about 5 hits a day for me +referrals.
