Now correct me if I am wrong, but this is supposed to be a family friendly site. Now why am I seeing banners for girls stripping (viruagirl.com)?? Anser me that!
What family couldn't enjoy that?

I do agree. This is supposed to be family oreinted. Jason: stop advertising for virtualgirl.com. Have some sense. We do have kids in here (people who aren't even in high school, in fact. This warrants a big sad face:(. I wish there were a frowning face for this.

OK...I've seen the banner now. Does seem out of place. I went to the site to see what it was about but the page would never load for me....

I don't think it's appropriate either, both because we have younger members on the boards and because it almost got me in trouble at work when someone thought I was looking at dodgy sites on the Internet! :(

My boss has a registered copy of Virtua Girl.
I can't really comprehend what enjoyment you can get from something the size of the MS paperclip stripping for you. It's like watching a very, very small peep show.

There is alot(well more) of money in this type of advertising, I don't think Jason would overstep the mark, some mistake or event out of his control has occured. :( should the BR site have a 15+ age warning when you enter?

If I remeber correctly, I saw it at Freeware, and I saw it here, I think at the bottom of the front page.

There are no banners at the bottom of any htmlforums page - may be it was at the bottom of a freewarefiles page you saw it on.
I saw the banner in this very thread, but I haven't seen it since.

It's okay, someone posted it in the moderators forum last night. I think at least one of the Almighties has seen it so I'm sure they will take action if they think it is necessary. Although I notice it is still here today!

Hi All,
I've found the source of the ads, and even seen it for myself now. They'll have to run until Monday, until I can contact BR's ad serving company, and have these ads blocked. I apologize if anyone was offended.

boxedart is a premium pay site and it needs potential customers sent to it.

And once again it is there this morning. I have come to the conclusion that it is set to come on between certain hours. It seems to disappear sometime after 10am UK time. It's probably set to display during the night in the US. Sadly that means it comes on while I'm at work here in the UK and continues to get me in trouble for looking at naughty things while I'm at work! ;)

So, you guys complain about a virtuagirl banner ad, which then disapeers, at least for some people. Then it re-appears as featrued freeware on freewarefiles.
And judging by the link: http://www.freewarefiles.com/cstrack/out.php?http://www.virtuagirl.com/cgi-bin/revshare/agents.cgi?refer=sedin14&website=13
The link is not an affiliate program generatred link, but virtuagirl has a personal referal program set up with freewarefiles.
Personally, I don't give a damn, but I'd guess that the editor of freewarefiles doesn't have too many fans around here now!

Hey Guys,
I've been in contact with L90, it seems that they are serving the ad 4th or 5th party through advertising.com, who is in turn running the ad. It can't be blocked directly, so they have to contact the next link in the chain.
I can't speak for freewarefiles directly (that site is not owned by BR inc). But I will touch base over there and see whats up. I'll keep you all posted.

I think most of us did, as well.
I did actually have a few suspicions, though. For example, I thought it strange that FreeWareFiles.com was the only Network site not effected in the hacking.
Aslo, the fact the FWFs is the only BR site that has it's own individual forum also seemed strange.
And finally, the fact that FWFs is the only BR site not necessarily aimed at webmasters - but it's aimed at all computer users.

Beware, though. Editing your Hosts will make certain sites, like www.zdnet.com, not look too good.

I don't care, on a sub-56K modem speed is the key.

quick - what was the link? :D only joking, these ads are getting worse, Jason has no self control, these types of ads pay more money than the normal ones. Or perhaps is BR in financial trouble and so it is resorting to these ads, they had an unpaid bill awhile back.......

I don't think it's within BR control, and so is not there fault.

Have they just sold their ad space to the highest bidder?

Didn't you read Jason's post on page 3??Hey Guys,
I've been in contact with L90, it seems that they are serving the ad 4th or 5th party through advertising.com, who is in turn running the ad. It can't be blocked directly, so they have to contact the next link in the chain.
It is advertising.com and beyond where the banners are coming from. BR does not have direct control of the banners. It is not BR's intention to run them and steps are being taken to get these banners stopped. Also other advertising is being looked at.

I've taken down L90 for the time being until they are able to straighten out the problem. The ads had started running in the midle of the day now.
