Am sorry.. but some people really need better things to do in there time than find out all of these facts.
Most of them have been on e-mails over the past couple of years, so don't really surprise anymore.
Do I seem really miserable saying that? I hope not.. but I just don't see as transferring e-mails to forums is really a good idea..

but, Reginald, how many people will believe it because they read it in an e-mail. Some of them you think, oh yeah, or you know some are true, you believe them.
The whole world becomes a more gullable place.
The interent is a great place, however sometimes it can be a danger to the world!

And they're not all true.
which one's are not true?
I know 1, 4, 8, 16, and 22 are all true...
I also know that 9 cannot be true - just because of logic... there ain't no way I spend 2.4 hours a day just queuing
on average you spend 1/3 of your life asleep, you spend 1/12 eating, 1/24 abluting, 1/3 sat at a desk - so that already accounts for 19 hours a day...
for me, personally, add about 1-2 hours commuting, and 3-4 hours at home or out with friends or other, and that leaves an unnaccounted hour in my day...

The one that particularly struck me as untrue was, like you, no. 9. I know that is false. However once one is false, that means the statement "They are all true" is false, bringing into question the credibility of the poster and/or the source of the "facts". Since the whole idea is to present facts one would normally think are false, why should I reverse that impulse and believe them to be true when I already know that I can't trust the source telling me so. I am inclined to believe that at least a few more are false.

Some people have collected this information over several decades of living and learning, Hammerstein. Since you don't know the source of the information, please don't assume that that's all they have to do with their lives. I know that some of the statements aren't true, but I can't say as I've seen this list in my inbox. It made me smile, so it can't be all that bad.

Agreed, and I can see your reasoning... however, in a discussion, it is not good form to make a flat statement without any kind of expansion on why you believe that statement to be true...

never thought about it like that before...
Chinese and Japanese pictograms are written right to left - as is Hebrew, and I think Sanskrit is too... seeing as these are some of the oldest written languages still in use, I wonder why so many people are right-hand dominant? surely that would promote a left-to-right form of writing...
damn, I'm gonna have to find a languages expert now, and interrogate them :P

My apologies Peg,
I do appreciate that people have collected these facts, I suppose I have just seen too many of these sort of things recently.
Yesterday wasn't one of my better days, was in a little more of a critical mood than usual.
Sorry if I offended anyone.

2. Alfred Hitch**** then bears the honor of either having being hatched or of never receiving any kind of nourishment as a fetus. ;)
11. Post-larva, the average lifespan of a housefly is approximately 24 hours.
16. This one's worded a bit amiguously. The actual factoid is something along the lines of "On average, a person will have swallowed 3 spiders whilst sleeping."
24. They make additional money by selling the placentas to cosmetics companies--specifically for hair conditioner--as they are chock full of nutrients and protein.
As for the right-to-left smeared-writing thing...you gotta remember the difference between modern western writing and classical eastern script. Today, we rest the heel of our hand on the writing surface and drag it across as we manipulate the stylus with our wrist and fingers, often moving quickly. A large majority of Sanskrit and Hebrew written word was reserved for holy texts, and as such, they were transcribed painstakingly carefully, with attention to detail going into every letter. (edit to add: ) Further to that, though Hebrew words and sentences are read right-to-left, the letters themselves are actually drawn left-to-right to ensure they maintain a uniform shape and size. This is why many older Hebrew texts appear as thought they were written on a grid. A bit farther east, traditional Kanji is often painted with a long brush, held at the end to allow for a natural flow of the brush stroke. Even today, those who can expertly write Kanji are regarded as artistic masters in their own right.

Reg, you know that guy who keeps interrupting a conversation to correct every little detail no matter how unimportant it is to the overall jist of the discussion or vibe of the atmosphere, and eventually ruins an otherwise good-natured and light-hearted exchange?
Don't be that guy.
Toilets are found in bathrooms. If you have a toilet injury, you have a bathroom injury. Sinks are near toilets. If you hurt yourself on a toilet, you may very well hurt yourself on a sink. Bababababa.
Thanks for being a sport.
I've slipped while standing in a bath before :D
Is no.1 really true? About the apples, and if so, how?

Rob, no, I don't know that guy. I do know a guy who takes a completely legitimate post and responds with a sarcastic, smug, condescending, and unnecessary critique of it. Do you know that guy?
Don't be that guy.
Is the conversation light-hearted enough for you now? When do you think it changed. When I made an innocent, relevant comment or when you arbitrarily took it upon yourself to critique my posts?
Thanks for being a sport.

The second half of your sentence pretty much covers it...
In my part of the world, bathroom and toilet are pretty much interchangeable as words.
