it can get really slow posting sometimes with my cable modem. I think this might be a problem with the board, not the server or my computer. I dont know though.

Yeah, *occasionally* that happens to a few members, but it can usually be sorted out simply by hitting the submit button again.

Sometimes that doesn't work. Maybe just too many people on the site...

There are lots of posts about this, I think it is a network wide problem, not just htmlforums.

I have ZDnet Monitor installed, this somehow improves the connection, I don't know if it really works, maybe it is psychological only :D

I encounter strange problems sometimes, too. Sometimes I just cannot post in a specific thread.

Same thing happens to me. Just makes you want to say, "Hmmmmmmmmmmm," doesn't it?

If you click the stop button in IE and then click the submit button again this often helps.

I don't think it works for me either, but if I try 5-6 things it has usually worked by then.

I use the preview post thing, and then reply. It usually works for me.

The thing is though, that every time you hit the submit button, whether or not it works, it still sends a notification e-mail to the other people in the thread. So if you sit there pressing and pressing the submit button, they get an inbox full of messages and can't understand why there is no post there when they go to read it.
This happens to me quite frequently. :(

Oh, is that why I checked my mail one morning and found about 50 notices that steve had responed to my post and there was actually no message? Just makes you want to say, "Hmmmmmmm....." doesn't it?

Turn E-mail notification off if this is a problem!

quietstorm: I used your method and it worked better then double-clicking. I think I may use this more often.

Same here, I have 2 accounts for pure SPAM, a hotmail and an another.com account, I login to these monthly and delete everything. I have a proper POP account and I never receive SPAM on it, because I signup to sites using my SPAM addresses.... and people complain about spam, it's so easy not to get it
