I've got two harddrives on my computer, C (master - 6,5 gigs) and D (slave - 30 gigs). I'm thinking of changing my little master too one on 200, but that will mean that I'll have to re'install windows due I have it installed there. Unfortunatly, I bought my computer used, so don't have that cd (XP Pro). But we bought an XP HE-cd to another computer just recently that should work. Is there any way that I can keep the OS, and if not what's the differences betweem HE and Pro?

HE is home edition. it is different than pro in the way how home deals with netowrking. also it is illegal to install the same XP on more than 1 machine. the licensing doesn't allow it.

what you should do it, put the 200 gig hd in your system. boot into dos and hope that you are not using NTFS file system. but what you can do it copy the smaller hard drive to your bigger one. then when you are done just remove the smaller one and place the big one where the small one was.

or you can get a program called ghost and make a image of the OS disk and then just store it on your slave drive and install the image onto the new drive. this means of course you will be in DOS so ghost will have to be bootable. I think it is free for a trial.
