Okay, I downloaded the file I want, and unzipped it. I then copied it into my Microsoft Frontpage 2000 directory (where my other web files reside). I then tried Insert, Advanced, Java Applet. But I guess I don't understand all of the questions this section asked, such as: Applet Source (I put the directory & file name where this file is located. Applet Base URL: I left this blank. Applet parameters - I left this blank. Anyone have any advice?

Hi Diane,

My first bit of advice is to edit your pages in something like notepad. (Yes I know, sounds crazy right? Well Microsoft has not yet produced a edition of Front Page that will work with applets without changing the code.)
The next thing to do is to understand Java a bit better:
1. Java Source = The code you put in you html to "call" the applet.

2. Parameters = The specs or detials of the applet.

3. Applet Base URL = Don't worry about this it won't hurt to leave it blank.

Hope this helps!

Hi
Maybe I sound like a nerd, but java applets are real laggards, slow down page loading - all around the globe don't have hi-bandwidth cable-modem or dsl connection.
Yes, as the webmaster has suggested, use html editors like 1stpage2000, archnophilia or plain old notepad to add or edit scripts and applets to FP-made pages.

Dear kichu,
I agree with you about java applets being slow. However there are some things that java, and java only can do. Try some other scripts and see what work for you.

Note: I am not hte webmaster of this site. That title belongs to Ian, & Jake, the guy who do most of this. Admin under our names is just a nice way of saying that we don't get much sleep. HEHE

Good luck!

Hi
Thanks.
Life is real hard on those admin guys: all work, no play!
Meanwhile please tell me where from can I get dynamic fonts that certain sites use for showing their sites in languages with charactors other than English - like Tamil - without the need for downloading and installing any fonts for that purpose.
Thanks again.

Hi,
Just a correction to Isaac's post. Jacob and Jason own Big Resources of which 123webmaster.com is part of. I am just the slave who loves his work and seems to be around 24/7 when possible. (hence clocking up over 480 internet hours last month http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif)
My position just consists of manageing and maintaining A1 JavaScripts, Head Guide who cracks the whip of currently 32 guides on 123webmaster, moderator of a few of these forums and a variety of other web development jobs around the network where I can be of use.
Thanks.

Thanks for the correction Ian. Nice to know that your real title is "slave driver". Funny, I never felt like a slave. hehe.

About the fonts:
I'm not sure of a site that has these, however if you could give us the url of a site that uses them, we might be able to find out.

Hello,
Thanks .
You may find such dynamic fonts being used in Webulagam (http://www.webulagam.com)
They call such fonts "pfr" (Portable Font Resource)

Kichu,

The ubb code here works with brackets

BOLD

[ b ]BOLD [ / b ] (no spaces)

try that instead of <b>BOLD</b> etc..

THe best help I think I can give you an the fonts is this, a snippit of source code from that site that you listed:

code:

<span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;
font-family:LT-TM-Barani;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:
"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;
mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">[/code]
