Alright, I have absolutely no experience with flash, but but I need to do this one thing.

I use Comcast internet, and they provide news in the form of a flash file called "the fan." I normally don't use it, but today, they found out who Deep Throat was. Luckily for me, I am scheduled to do a presentation on Watergate in just one week. However, the video is imbedded in the flash file. I don't know how to either get the video out of the flash file so I can save it, and I can't seem to be able to just save the whole flash file. How can I save it onto my computer?

By the way, the flash file I want can be found here:

You can use Firefox to save it, if you use Firefox and go to Page Info in the tools menu you will see a media tab, here you will see all the images, background images, and any songs or flash that are on the page just find the flash and save as.

Hmm... seems to me you want to actually grab the video itself from the .swf file. That would require either the .fla file itself, or you need to get an *ahem* dark side file. I've been told not to mention it here before, so if you want to know, just PM me. It's a legit program, but is looked down on.

If its looked down on then why even offer to tell them how to do it? It is illegal to decompile a flash file. If you were told not to mention it then why would you mention to anyone in the forum at all?

Because the purpose of it is for him to obtain the video file. It is not for him to get anything else. Nor would I just have shot my mouth off about it. If he can obtain the video from the people personally or the original .fla, all the better. I am by no means promoting the alternative.
