Irratating when you know your right and you say as much in a thread and you get some muppet telling you otherwise tends to get ones back up.

As the guy wasn't polite nor did he offer up any explanation so I decided to bite my tongue, called 0870 60 10 1000 and a couple of phone menu options later I was talking to a Microsoft Technical Support person who answered my query as I expected... I was right.

SO! Should I publically roast this guy for trying to make me look like a total idiot? or does the light BBQing I just gave him enough? (well imagine a tactful reply was what I gave with a light seasoning of taunting) :D

What would you do? given he was the first to put the boot in.

Ignore him. He'll put his foot in his mouth soon enough, and in public. He'll come into his own, I'm sure. People like that usually do.

On the other hand, it could have been an honest mistake or a misinterpretation of the question.

Either way, rubbing his nose in it isn't going to get you any brownie points. It'll just make you look like a bigger jerk who has to win all the time at any cost.

My Grandfather had a saying..."There always a nice way to bury a horse theif". It means that there is a polite way to do everything. Tooting your own horn only makes you look bad.

Yup, well I said in plain english 'Sorry but your wrong... ' and continute to post what Microsoft said, fact that this subject arose several time ofver as many weeks and all recieving similar answers from various members of the board, I had had enough and decided to put an end to the argument once and for all, the cost of 50p was worth it.

Really did feel like rosting the guy but did think better and a tactical shot backed up with a phone them yourself got the message home.
