I am making a site for a guy who is setting up a fire training company and he can't decide which logo to go with. neither are my work but can be changed by me if needed - fonts etc.

Which is the best in your opinion - you're the graphics gurus - can you help us decide?

thank you

You should have put up a poll. I like them both, they're both nice. But the first a bit, but the image size should be reduced.

One looks nicer, but probably would be a lot harder to use because of it's square shape.

If you could use one, and make it fit in well - I think it'd look nicer. But they both are good - well done.

I have to agree, personally I think that 1 is the more eye-catching.

That said, it depends on who your mate's target audience is. The second one is much more "coroprate", if you see what I mean, so might look more appropriate on letterheads etc if he's going to be sending out letters to "men in suits"...

For something like a fire training company, logos have a way of become patches, decals and used for other advertising purposes instead of just websites.
So I would go with the design that would be the most practical for all uses.

It is all part of product identification.

They both are good designs. But which one would be the best fit would depend on the long term goals of establishing product recognition.
It would be difficult to put #2 on a coffee mug or the sleeve of a jacket.

dudes - thank you for those great comments - voting is closed and logo one is the one - got to admit - it looks great on the side of his van, and also on his business cards. I am now making the website to reflect his business cards and it wont win any awards for design but it keeps the guy's theme going, and for once, i am getting paid.

Cheers all for the input - he read it! and loves the comments

you should use both. #2 (which i like better) for letter heads and headers, and logo 1 for small badge like things and polo shirts and stuff
