Mapping / directory structure

Hello

I am looking for a script (JS, PHP) or a tool that can create this 'directory structure - navigation bar' you see on 123webmaster, yahoo, etc.

For instance, like this:

home > products > things > object

Each of the elements really is a link

I'm sure there is a way to automate this, but wherever I look I'm not able to find it.

it is not quite what you are looking for but i found a script located at the javascript source at http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/directory-info.html

i am not au fait with javascript so i don't know the ins and outs. it does not use the exact directory navigation display that you want, but it will still give neat linked directory information. depending on your own javascript knowledge it could be possible to adapt it.

i know you want one that works like the one here at 123webmaster. i have not got a clue what is used here, but i am sure one of the big wise important experts here could fill you in! http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/wink.gif

Hi Lupo

123webmaster's top navigation is actually handled by a huge script which also handles submissions, the cool page, the ratings page, the new page, generatnig all pages from a database, the search engine, and mostly everything else that you see on the site.

The script that we use is called Links 2.0 and can be found at http://www.gossamer-threads.com. It can be downloaded for free for non commercial use.

I would suspect that Yahoo has a similar but more powerful method of doing this as I have a feeling that their pages are generated in a similar fashion to ours. After all, Links 2.0 was modeled after Yahoo.

Links 2.0 is very manageable, however it does take some perl knowledge to set it up. Let me know how it goes.
