regarding retrieving data

Is there any way to limit the amount of data to show??
coz my database got like 28k of info and i would like to limit to like 50 per 1 time view.. And not juz show 28k of info at 1 time..

So is there any way to show 50 data then another 50 again??
or is there a better way?:confused:
