View Full Version : Site Appraisal
Is there anywhere I can get a (free) idea of what our site is worth to sell? I've read some articles on it, but they mainly just pose the questions such as how much traffic, how much revenue, etc., without giving a guideline, for example: If you have X amount of traffic and generate X amount of revenue, etc., market value is estimated to be in the range of X number of dollars. (I've also seen some really nonsensical ways to estimate a site's worth.) And I've seen some sites for sale, but asking price is not necessarily reflective of market value.
Thanks in advance for feedback :)

Do a search on google or hotbot for "domain name appraisal". They all look like scams to me, but maybe there are a few legit appraisers.
I can't find any good info on appraising an entire website. The truth is that most are worth little or nothing. The domain name is generally the most valuable asset.

http://www.afternic.com is one that seems to lead the way. I listed my name for apprasial, but found it to be very confusing to do so. It is a system where people evaluate your domain name. Some people will also tell you what a fully developed site might be worth, but generally it is for names only.
Hey, I suggest this forum have a think tank and figure out a way to do, while not formal appraisals, approximate site value estimates. If you could establish some sort of baseline from which to begin and a guideline to follow, posters could add their opinions. Sound do-able? Judy :)

The only problem is that it is so subjective. What you think may be worth $1000, I may think is only worth $500. Afternic works on domain names alone, not the site content. You can have a million dollar name with 10 cents worth of content or vice versa.
