Hello, I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I'm Joe from T.O. (I wish I registered with a cool handle instead of my lame name - now I can't hide behind some obscure alias and drop virtual coconuts on heads like Pixelmonkey)

Anyway, this seems like a decent place. Tell me honestly what's special about this group of forums and where is there room for improvement? In other words is this a worthwhile place to hang or just another virtual 2-slurpie-flavours 7-11 where my mom would have told me to not to hang out?

I've noticed some people have reached big numbers with their posts and looking at the forums it looks likes the Spam Box has been the place to rack up the posts.

True. The Spam Box is the place to get lots of posts, quick. Whether HF is good, you'll have to decide for yourself.

Hi Joe! Nice to meet you properly at last! ;) Well I started coming to this forum a few months ago and found that it was by far the best I'd come across. There is a good team of admins that ensure your posts get answered as quickly as possible, and there are a lot of knowledgable and helpful members among us too, making this a really useful and friendly community.

I liked it so much I stuck around and am now moderating a couple of forums!

Hope you decide to stick around too! :D

Hi Joe,

I've only been hanging around here for a couple of weeks. I think what's special are the people. They're..I hope they'll forgive me for this...more mature in attitude than at some other forums, including some forums with lots of intelligent, knowledgable contributors. Age has nothing to do with it..it's just a matter of outlook. At the same time it seems more relaxed. Maybe that goes together.
I've gotten a lot of help here and lots of enjoyable reading in a very short time.

One thing I've noticed is that most people spend the time to make complete sentences at this forum group, with appropriate capitals and all. Having the english language maintained in it's native, un-butchered format somehow appeals to me. Heck there's even a spell-checker! (which I will continue to rely on)

It however doesn't bother me if members take careful attention to grammar/spelling, as long as there is some useful content in the message, i'm happy :)

I have to visit different forums for different reasons. This forum is my favorite place for front end development q/a, and the server side/ database is coming along too. One of the most popular places here is 'website review.' A large number of people get a second (and third and fourth, and fifth....) opinion on their site. It always helps to have a fresh pair of eyes.

Other strong points are html page layout, cross platform layout, and client side scripting. You can put your errors up and let others help you out. Response time is good, and the large number of web savvy members makes for quality answers.

And, not all of us get out high numbers from the spam box! ha!

I'm closing in on a 1,000. Not one post in the spam box! I just say no to spam :)

Regards from the spamless skull,
Kevin

Hi, Welcome! I am an admitted SPAM box junkie. But I do contribute in other areas as well. Sometimes we just use the SPAM box the blow off some steam. You will see that most of us who are goofing around in there also help out in other areas. Enjoy your visits!
