I voted for homework... although I never did that much of it. Always made up for a semester's worth of homework 0's with flying colors on the finals though :D

(Thinks the rules don't apply to him... must have watched too much television)

I voted for bullies because I use to get bullied for being the quiet, skinny, weedy one of the class! I laugh about it now but it wasn't very funny at the time. Still, I can have the last laugh now, I'm doing a lot better for myself than any of them are! ;)

I'm with Goldie.. Spend several miserable years at high scool being picked at by bullies, only to spend the next 4 years at college having the best time of my life ..

I voted for bullies. I got bullied a lot when I was in the beginning grades of high school because I was still taking the bus to school and I used to be considered nerdy, even though nerdy isn't really my look. :)

BUT.. I wanted to add to this is that one of the worst things I hated about high school was the immaturity and gossip that always went on. It was so annoying how people used to spread rumors and how some would try to outdo others. I'm so glad I'm past that and have learned from these obnoxious behaviors that I was exposed to.

There! lol.

My worst thing about high school is not on the list... peer pressure. If it wasn't for peer pressure I might not have done some of the less well advised things that I did.

After that I would say homework, never liked doing homework unless it was done in the company of a girlfriend. I was never picked on in school, I did well on tests and only had a few bad teachers, mostly boring ones but a couple of mean ones too, in PE (gym) class. I had some really good teachers too, made learning fun and exciting. Even had a physics teacher that made learning pyhsics seem fun! On the other hand, my algebra teacher put the class to sleep, no imagination, strictly by the book teaching.

Anyway......that was a long time ago.

the monkey voted for the "teachers that knew less" option. i never quite caught what school was about untill i was away from it for about 1 year! it's amazing how messed up things can become in a persons life in one week! homework... yea, i did some of that. test,.. yea i sat in on some of those too. all in all i graduated in the bottom 5% of the class! and now that i'm having to pay for my own college and bust more then my wallet and but to pay for life, well... i'm currently holding a 3.3 and will likely be transfering to OSU in the fall. (more accredited college then where i am now, and doesnt cost toooo much more!)

the monkey needs a new start... again!

I didn't like being looked at as the 'smart one' so I let my grades decline to be 'normal'. I also never did homework. It just wasn;t really practical. College is a lot better, but some classes should be 6weeks in length.... but the instructor drags through the lectures for 3 or 4 months. Boooooooring! I do much better in fast paced classes that really push you. Also, I have taken my share of online classes. I have learned a great deal outside the classroom by reading books (programming instructional.) I get very bored in a classroom setting. I need to learn by doing.

For one who is still currently in high school, there is no doubt that we worst problem is homework. Personally, I've never had any problems with bullies.

Boy - you so need to get your head out of your rear. It's very hard to see where you are going in that position. And it sounds like you are goin nowhere fast.

I would have to agree with Kevin on this one, peer pressure was overwhelming. The whole high school mentality really bugged me, I couldn't wait to get out. It was like living in a fish bowl where everyone spent too much time watching each other and worrying about how they looked. Cliques were so important. I had wanted to belong to the "in-crowd" for my first few years, then, after finally being accepted, found out that they were mostly self-serving posers. Success was more anti-success - I got more recognition for doing a few outrageously stupid acts then I ever got for working hard and being a good boy. Wanting to do well academically was uncool, so like many others, I suppressed my ambition.

At a recent high school reunion it was great to see that all those awkward straight kids had blossomed into interesting, successful people - while those who pursued cool were no where to be seen. Revenge of the nerds!

Homework was the worst for me, too, and think how long it took to do an assignment when you had to carve it all on a stone tablet!

If it makes you feel any better or worse, peer pressure and the whole "anti-success" mentality was the same 35 years ago as now. But for the most part we weren't armed, or at least we didn't have firearms, so I guess it was a more innocent time in that way.

I doubt they feel any bad way about you, shadowz. Probably the point was something along the lines of - high school is not life. It's kind of the opposite of life, sometimes. The "tightest" years in high school can sometimes result in things not going so well for the much longer run. Not always, of course, but a lot of the time.

I don't think many of us are crying over the bully years. I was just stating how it went for me, but hell, I wouldn't change one damn thing about my high school years as it reinforced the way I am, my knowledge, and my strength to be a successful businesswoman.

Just because high school had it's down moments and we would like to discuss it, doesn't mean we're "ranting and raving like Sally Jessy". We're are merely stating anecdotes.

JUST SPEAKING THE TRUTH....anyway peace

It's a shame you can't see things from the point of view of the people being bullied. It's well over 10 years since I was bullied at school and it still affects my self-confidence now sometimes.

A couple of months ago I was supposed to have a work experience kid of 16 come to work with me. He was from a special school and had spent most of his school life being mentally and physically bullied by other kids. It affected his self-confidence so much that on the day he was supposed to start he had a big nervous breakdown and never made it.

Thankfully a lot of bullies grow out of it and eventually realise the damage they have done, but sadly some, like shadowz I fear, don't.

I'm sorry, I'm with Kman on this one.

Hi Shadowz,

You provoked my curosity with your post in this thread. If you wouldn't mind, I would be interested in asking some questions based on your statements. Please keep in mind that this is not an attack against you, and I am not here to express an opinion one way or another.

i never get bullied...
im the one bullying all the time....

Why is it that you feel the need to bully others? Is this to make you feel like you have power, or is it to fit in with your friends?

hmmmmm this post makes me consider not to bully the "more smarter people" seeing as though you guys on here are so nice and helpful...they are prob the same....

If you are considering ruling out the "more smarter people", who are you going to then be bullying?

o well....
gotta make fun of yall if i want to stay in tight with my lil crew of friends...[/b[

Who is yall? Are you refering to those at the forums that are helping you run your business?

[b]follower? no
wanna maintain being cool? yes

What if it suddenly became uncool to bully others? Would you then follow your friends and do the same?

anyway its not an option on the poll...but i would say waking up in the morning...its hella bad.....especially since i got the i-net just under 6 months ago (what u expect im gangsta)

What gang are you in? What was required on your part to be initiated into it?

luckily i was kicked out for the last few weeks of skool for threatning a teacher**....
or else i wouldnt be on right....
wuzuuuuuuuup :)

***side note for those interested...i didnt do anything that bad to get kicked out, jus told the teacher
"go f*ck himself and that i would bury him"
and with all the sh*t going around the skools, columbine, ect ect...they thought they couldnt take any chances...whateva though.....im still dope....

Are you implying that you feel that no serious harm can be caused in the world through the use of words?

TheKman

shadowz - I don't have anything against you. I just don't care for the image you are portraying. I find the "gangsta" culture full of hate and striving to blame society for their lack of morals. "It's not my fault... I grew up in a bad neighborhood, or, I was born poor, or, My parents didn't love me, etc, etc, etc."

While these things can be harmful, it is much better to work past them and become a better person for it. Use those disadvantages for society. If your parents weren't around become a big brother or sister to another kid in the same boat. Steer them in a positive and uplifting direction.

Those that live with hate often die with hate. How many gangsta rappers have we seen get popped because they still embraced the culture of hate?

I'm going to climb down from my soap box now...

Oh yeah, this thread is about school.

I didn't really hate anything about high school. I went to an all boys Catholic school. I think there were several good things about this.

1. No girls as a constant distraction. We were able to see plenty of girls after school and on weekends. At that age, given the overwhelming flow of hormones, it was actually a relief not to deal with girls in class and the hallways.

2. Religion/morality was an integral part of our education. This is something I believe many kids could use more of these days. This is not to say that I agree with every part of the Catholic doctrine, but I do believe I am a better person for having been exposed to it. This is said in retrospect, at the time, I did not give much thought to the religous/moral aspects of my education.

I was a big kid and never had to deal with bullies. I was 6'1" and 180 lbs in my freshman year. Nobody really bothered me. Plus, the Brothers at the school were very quick to crack down on offenders. They also had the ultimate trump card. You screwed up too much and they kicked you out and kept your parents money.

So, I had no major beef with High School. That is not to say that I would like to do it again. I like where I am in life now and don't want to be a teenager again.

Staying on this topic......

If you could relive your senior year of high school knowing what you know now about the world and such, would you do it again?

My answer: absolutely!

If I knew then what I know now.....whatta blast I would have had!
