I would like to be able to actually have audio (about 20 minutes of speech) on my site. I have found a company that has written an applet so that a play is not needed. What software do I use to record my sound?? Thanks for any help to a non techy.

You'd need a microphone connected to your PC. Then download software to do the recording for you. An example would be:
http://www.looprecorder.de/ and
http://www.sonicfoundry.com/

20 minutes? Whoa Nelly. You better make sure the sound is streaming, and does not need to be pre-downloaded. That's going to be one large file.

Perhaps you should shorten the speech or make it available in parts. Streaming audio will have to be buffered and will slow down the audio.

I was able to record using my computers pre installed media application. It automatically recorded in .wav format, which will play on the windows media player. Even 10seconds of speech will be a big file. Better make sure your audience is up for the dowload wait (surely a LOT longer than 20 minutes) and also to wait out the 20 min speech.
