Somehow I stumbled acorss this site. http://www.spewey.com/
While checking out the hosting packages, http://www.spewey.com/hosting.htm
I perked up at the 50 megs package for only $1.75 per month billable annually, plus a one time $10 set up fee. You get your own domain name plus FTP, CGI, and no banners.
Can some of you guys (and ladies) check this out to see if I missed something. There must be a catch, but I just don't see it (must be the SPAM :D).
Thanks gang.

Seems fine to me. Of course, you don't really know until you use it.

"100 megs of server space & 500 megs (monthly) of transfer."
500 megs of monthly transfer isn't much... br pushes out over 30 gigs a day, what happens if you go over the bandwidth limit?

If you go over, they ask you to purchase more bandwidth, upgrade your account, or they suspend it until they end of the month if you don't pay up.
My site won't come close to 500 megs of transfer. That comes out to somewhere in the ballpark of 50,000 page views a month. I only get around 1,400 page views a month right now. Storage wise, it's probably around 3 or 4 megs.
Sounds quite tempting though. I might have to bite the bullet and see what happens.

There was once a site that a guy set up a site so his wife could buy, sell, and trade Pez dispensers. It's called eBay.
I don't know what your site's about, but saying you won't go over the limit is probably correct, but could also be dubbed as "famous last words".
Play it safe. Look around for others. About $10 a month should get you some decent web hosting.
Try these:

Too many timnes you get what you pay for. there are some very good deals out there that offer more services for only a little more than the cost you described. $10 a month is a lot larger percentage wise, but is still not a lot of money.

But $10 is good for starters. And unlike 500 MB transfer, you're less likely to get caught with your pants down. (Well, not over a website anyway! :) )

I already have great hosting at a great deal for $15.95/month (much more than I need really at 200 megs storage and 6 gigs of transfer, CGI, PHP, Perl 5, etc...), but was curious about this host when I stumbled across it.

Hey Steve, who's your host?
I've actually got a great host myself, but that's a great price to keep in mind. I get 100 megs and 4 gigs a month plus extras for $19 (if you pay the year in full). I started off with their 40megs of space/3 gigs. for $18/$13 in full). It's on a linux. They're WebServePro. I went through every forum, review and consumer site to find them. I think the biggest hurdle was adult content, though.

I agree totally. $10 a month is a steal, when hosting used to run upwards of $25 USD monthly for minimum packages. Besides..... its worth paying if the host is reliable.
Side not, I am a little prehensive about those 'pay annual fee in advance' deals.... makes me think about what can happen in 6 months. It saves you money, but your also locked into it then too, with little or no hope for refund should things go sour.
