Argh! This is driving me insane, I've been trying for the past hour to get rid of the JS/NoClose trojan. McAfee keeps telling me that a virus has been detected but it can't be cleaned. It gives me the directory C:\Documents and Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\09AFOFa3\ads2[1].htm. I can get up to Temporary Internet Files but from there I can't find Contnet.IE5. I also have Ad-aware 6... McAfee seems to be a piece of poop :bash:

try googling for AVG Anti-Virus...
Free and works very excellent.

You can't find Content.IE5? Although I don't think it is, it may be a hidden folder. Have you configured Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders too? If you still can't find it, go to Start -> Search -> For Files or Folders, type Content.IE5 and search.

Clear your temp internet files, that will get rid of it. If it denies you access, boot up in safe mode and clear them.

Just before I posted this last night I cleared the cookies in the 'Temporary Internet Files', I haven't been on the computer yet but it seems to be working because no one in my family has complained yet. I think my brother picked it up from these dumb teen chat forums that he goes to, limewire, they're always asking you if you want to "run and install blah blah" and he doesn't know what in the heck he is clicking yes to.

I have a suggestion. Create two different profiles on your computer. Set the guest or "your brothers" profile to turn off ActiveX and javascript on the web, this will help to eliminate many of the passive pests from some of the more devious sites on the net.

Good luck in the future, I have a sister-in-law that is guilty of virtually cramming my computer full of spyware and adware. Thoroughlly frustrating!
