I've had a random spastic twitch in my right eye for nearly a week now, and it won't go away!!! Does anyone have any helpful hints about what causes them and what makes them go away? this is driving me absolutly freaking crazy!!

Its the manifestation of feelings of guilt. I think you should confess to your hubby about the other night, when you went to the club and said you had a flat tire and slept at your girlfriends house.... :O

You'll laugh at this, but an old friend of mine swears that's one of the indications of time travel, the other one being a sudden ringing in your ears. :D
He says that the eye twitching starts when you're spirit is inline with a time tunnel, and the ringing indicates the tunnel has passed.
Apparently...if you concentrate really hard, you can zip backwards, forwards in time and to parallel planes of existance.
No! They haven't locked him up yet and he does hold down a responsible job }:-)

If she ever told me she slept at her girlfriend's house, I'd likely believe it. hahaha. You may interpret that any way you choose. :o :rocker:

Time travel, eh Blue? I rather like that idea! :) Though if it's true, it kinda bums me out... I get the ringing all the time, but no eye twitch. Maybe that's why Kate and I work so well together: She can tell me when the "tunnel" is coming, and then I can tell her once it's passed. :P It's destiny, I tell ya!
Oh wait, I don't believe in destiny.

I have this problem on occasion too. I've been told that it has to do with having low potassium (sp?) in your system and I should eat a banana or something high in potassium.
But I dunno if thats true or not.

does it stop when you eat the banana?

I think I tried it once, it didn't stop like right then and there, but it di go away for a while.
But that doesn't mean anything, msot of the time I just deal with it and it goes away on its own.

Same problem. The doctor told me to eat iodized salt (not all salt is iodized) and facial messages to relax the muscles. IF you do not have a problem with iodine, this should help.

Iodized salt, eh? That's interesting, only because I happen to know that the salt we have at our house is not iodized. Whodathunkit?

I had one of those before, they are more than annoying.
A doc told me to take some calcium. I did and it went away. Don't know if it was coincidence or not but couldn't hurt to try it.
So if the  thing doesn't work out...

Sitting for too long infront of the computer screen. Not enough breaks from said machine, and poor lighting.
I have those spasms all the time! ;)

One of my managers at work told me that it was a potassium thing as well...so I'll buy some banana's tomorrow and tell you if it goes away. I don't know about the calcium thing, because I think I get a healthy amount of calcium. And I am pretty sure it's not an iodine deficiency because trust me...I salt way more things than I probably should...so much so that I am having to make a conscious effort not to salt things.

I think you should exchange your salt for iodized salt. In the past, I had problems with muscle cramps. Once I switched to iodized salt it was fixed completely and I haven't had the problem since.

Danny, we'll be sure to do that. It's actually something I've been meaning to do for some time now.
So let's see...
Bananas: $1.50 (approx.)
Iodized salt: $1.00
Calcium (milk): $3.00
Total: $5.50
This is some pretty inexpensive medical advice. Unless, of course, as Entimp pointed out, Kate puts her eye out with the 'Nanner. :P But I have more faith in her than that.

similar thing happend to me with the doc.
I had some kind of throat infection - very painful and difficult to swallow. my GP was 200 miles away at the time, and so I had to wait until i got back to REading.
Then she told me that "this kind of thing lasts about 10 days" - I'd had it for 9!

If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the internet with one eye, than having a twitchy eye that really bothers thee.

I hate to say it Kate but its just old age creeping up on you slowly and relentlessly, first the eye lid twitches, the the left index finger, then your big toe, then a muscle in your thigh, then the back, then the neck, then the calf muscles contract violently leaving you unable to walk but your jaw muscles have froze leaving you incapable of screaming for help, then you accept your fate and embrace the dimmness, its warm, its easy to not take that next breath, its over..... all from a twitch in the eye.

good be many things kate:

apparently the most probable cause is a little eye bug trying to get out, don't worry it will soon give up and die, the twitching should stop then :D
man kevin, i had a damned healthy fear of growing old as it was :P
