This is just like all the rest "guess the..." word games. This one is to guess the name and artist of the song from the lyrics given.

First one:

"For six long years, I've been in trouble.
No pleasure here on earth I've found"

Edit: the song has to be kinda well known. Can't be a local band you saw down at the pub the other nite.

HINT: Its from a movie with George Cloney (sp??) in it.

It might make this easier if we used the same format as the Super Looney Trivia thread.

Maybe if we put the decade(50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's), genre, and that type stuff in the question it would help.

I'll take the liberty of drawing my own conclusions :)

Let's go back to 1963 and tap the blues for the next one:
"I gave you a brand new Ford,
You said, "I want a Cadillac".
I bought you a $10 dinner,
You said, "Thanks for the snack".
I let you live in my penthouse,
You said it was just a shack.
I gave you seven children,
And now you want to give 'em back."

No shame.. I haven't played it in a while but I think I still have a copy of Pocket Full of Kryptonite lying around somewhere. Spindoctors had kind of a proto-Dave Matthews type sound.

You got it bassrek.. Judith.

A lot of the songs on that album were names (Magdalena, Rose, Judith, Thomas, Breña) that's why it was called Mer de Noms. (Sea of Names)

There you go. Maynard's a great vocalist. Love his work in Tool, too. Sometimes I filter out the actual words, but I love his singing.

Here's an Aussie band for Nin. They've kind of faded here, but might still be big down there:

It's twelve o'clock, and it's a wonderful day.
I know you hate me, but I'll ask anyway.
Won't you come with me, to a place in a little town.
The only way to get there's to go straight down.
There's no bathroom, and there is no sink.
The water out of the tap is very, hard to drink,
Very hard to drink.

I'm confident Cake's right, so I'll post. My last blues one didn't take, so let's go a bit more mainstream blues:

Well you've heard about lovin' givin' sight to the blind,
My baby's love do cause the sun to shine.
She my sweet little thing,
She my _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _. <--name of song
She my sweet little baby,

I second that. The Real Thing was a very good album though don't expect it all to sound like Epic that was a unique song. They have a killer cover of War Pigs on it.

Sorry to keep you waiting, I thought someone else would take it as I was gone and all. Here ya go:

Back to Horus' song...if it is Madness, they were a one hit + one minor hit wonder over here. "Our House" was their big hit here, but I don't recognize your lyrics as being from that song. Here is the write up about "I am the Walrus" found on IamTheBeatles.com:

A great song by Lennon, and those of us who admire him greatly, rate this as one of his best. This disjointed song was written from an amalgamation of at least three other songs he was working on at the time, but which he thought were not good enough on their own. Many of the images were taken from actual events, such as the policemen, which came about when he heard their car sirens one day, and he tried to copy the rhythm of the sirens, and was originally one of these unfinished songs. The second song was a pastoral melody created at his Weybridge home garden, and the third was a nonsense song about sitting on a corn flake (he liked ®Kellogg's Corn Flakes). However, much of this song is made up of nonsensical images and words invented by Lennon, such as semolina pilchards, elementary penguins, texpert, crabalocker, etc. One of his inspirations for these ludicrous images was Bob Dylan. Lennon believed that Dylan got away with murder in some of his lyrics, so as Lennon explained it in later years said "I can write this crap, too." The only lyric in the song where Lennon was serious is the first line, where he describes his belief in unity of all things. Lennon invented the line 'elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna' asa jibe at Allen Ginsberg who chanted Hare Krishna at public rallies, and the walrus came from the Lewis Carroll poem, The Walrus and The Carpenter."

Not necessarily, it's just that gildash2 there doesn't seem to have a grasp on the rules of the game. I thought that maybe he just had a couple of songs in his head and didn't know who did 'em. So I was going to do him a solid and help him out but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Rulz:
1)You get to post lyrics only if it's your turn (one song at a time please.)
2)It's your turn if you are the first to guess the name of the last song quoted.
3)NO GOOGLEING...!!!

If nobody gets your song after a while it's nice to start giving some hints or just post another song and wonder to yourself, "Do these people live under a rock or do I just listen to some messed up tunes?"

well, I have been away for the weekend.

I gave plenty of hints.

The song was Porcelina

New lyrics:

Hot sun beating down
burning my feet just walking around.

Hot sun making me sweat
'Gators getting close, hasn't got me yet

The band has three guys in it, and was released in 1991.

Constant over stimulation numbs me
and I wouldn't have
It any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

Don't fret precious I'm here, step away from the window
Go back to sleep
Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
Counting bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums

Okay, a hint. Here is the whole song.

Don't fret precious I'm here, step away from the window
Go back to sleep
Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
Counting bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind what other voices say
They don't care about you, like I do, like I do
Safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils,
See, they don't give a phuck about you, like I do.
Just stay with me, safe and ignorant,
Go back to sleep
Go back to sleep
Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums
I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and all your demons
I'll be the one to protect you from
A will to survive and a voice of reason
I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and your choices son
They're one in the same
I must isolate you
Isolate and save you from yourself
Swayin' to the rhythm of the new world order and
Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums
The boogeymen are coming
The boogeymen are coming
Keep your head down, go to sleep, to the rhythm of the war drums
Stay with me
Safe and ignorant
Just stay with me
Hold you and protect you from the other ones
The evil ones
Don't love you son,
Go back to sleep

Sorry, but it's one of those songs where the title isn't in the lyrics. :evilsnik:

Very close, but no cigar. Lullaby doesn't really have any lyrics.

well, even Lemmy acknowledges that the mass public only really know that one song.

Ahh, the dreaded mass public. I expected the lack of recognition here in the US, but it's the same over there, too? It's a shame, really, a band that's been around for 25+ years and has influenced pretty much every hard rock/metal band since the early 80s and they're only known for 1 song by the masses.

Ahh. OK :) Sorry to get off topic.

Back to your song...another APC song, eh? Judith is the only name I can remember, the lyrics don't match, and you've already done that one anyway.

In conclusion, I have nothing to add. :D

Anything with Lemmy in vox is cool. Dave Grohl on drums just makes it that much better. I haven't gotten the album yet, but is that the one they made the video for with the Suicide Girls?
