what about in internet explorer? And, have you looked through the browser options (like in IE, the advanced, what the home page is set to). Have you ran a program like Spybot or adaware? Have you cleared your internet cache?

That's where I would start.

Yip tried all that,my homepage is set to blueyonder then it automatically changes back to ABOUT:BLANK.Do you think it might be a virus? whenever I log onto the net it just goes to this page and wont let me do anything else!!!

so if you have tried mozilla and firefox and Opera and they all point to about:blank??

then as Low_Overhead said, try spybot and clean your system.

If none of Low_Overhead's suggestions work, then try scanning your system with an antivirus program.

he said he can't get on the net on that computer...

can you burn CD's there where you are? then you could download some antivirus software. if you only can put stuff on floppies, there might be some stingers that fit. but they only recognize a few viruses. or unless you have a bunch of floppies and put a big file on several ones with a spanned zip archive.

If you can get to atleast http://us.mcafee.com/default.asp ....they have free scanning service, but you have to atleast get to that site. I dont' know if this will help, but I had a virus once and someone gave me this little tiny program, it did a quick check for some viruses so I could atleast get online. You can download it here, don't know if it will help, but it might.

Ajay: that file I just put up there for you will check for some viruses, and it will fit on a floppy.

I've heard of it before, but when other people had something like that happen, it was usually a spyware problem, so spybot fixed it.

although stinger is good it will only find about 34 virus's. it gets the biggest ones.

you will need to run spybot or adaware. but they will not fit on a floppy.

You should be able to access the internet thru Windows Explorer. (which is a browser itself)

Go to your My Documents Folder and if you do not have the Address Bar showing on your Toolbar. Right click the Tool Bar and put a check before the Address Bar link on the context menu.

Once you have an Address Bar while in your My Documents Folder just type in an URL and away you should go.

Here is Trend Micro's Online Virus Scanner:

I managed to scan my computer last nite and the software I used reported back that I hav 2 spyware files infected, they are:TRANSPONDER and ALEXA SOFTWARE.

Does anyone know what these are?

And any idea's as to how I delete them?

scoutt

depends on what you used to scan with. spybot and adaware give you check boxes and a button that says delete.

if you used spyhunter than no you can't delete them unless you buy the software, pretty stupid. :P

Yeh prolly just a browser hijacker. In situations like that i wouldnt have suggested going to tools > internet options > advanced then unchcking "enable third party browser extentions" in explorer. That usualy solves most spyware or hijacker probs untill u can clean the crap outta there.
