excel vs. quattro pro

hello! what is the difference between excel and quattro pro? i was able to modify and save an excel document in quattro pro, and later opened it as an excel document in excel and quattro pro. ...but can a person who only has excel read a document that was created and saved in quattro pro?

if you save it as an excel document, it is an excel document. hence, you can also open it in excel.
