I'm soon setting up a small webmaster tools site which will result in lots of people linking to my server. So I need to know more about bandwidth and it's costs.
Any help would be much apreciated.

It goes from $3-$7 a gig depending on the host and plan. I wouldn't expect more than 1-5 gig per month at the absolute MOST from a small site. Some hosts will even give you a package with so much free bandwidth transfer.

I would suggest you to use the hosts offering unlimited bandwidth if your site has lots of graphics and interactivity.

Regardless of claims, there is NO such thing as unlimited bandwidth :D. BEWARE of hosts that offer this.

hey!
I have been around the hosting idustry for a couple months now as you can see. and i have learned the same thing as jason. No host can offer unlimited bandwith, no matter what size host. Here is an example:
Say I have a T1 line right?( about $850/mth)I can get about 300gigs a month out of that baby. And you purchase a 10$ a month account from me. If you used about 150gigs a month that would means i would lose about $415 a month from hosting you. This is a marketing gimmick. If I were you I would go check out Nox Hosting (http://www.noxhosting.com)
He is a really good guy You knows a lot about hosting. Hopefully red circle can be launched with in the next month!Hope to see you soon!
