Forum problem. changing pasword

My server host. contacted me today regarding my ftp/mysql pasword. they fought i should change it becouse i used the same as the one they gave me when i bought the site. so i didt. but now the forum dont work. simply becouse when it try connect the mysql database it uses the old pasword. so i need to manualy change the pasword over to the new one. but haw ?? i have tryed change it in the config.php but it dont seem to work. so is there someone here that can help me find the file i need to change the pasword from the old one to the new one in ??
