Only a question of time till a complete harddisk(20 GB or so...) will go on O N E CD-Rom or not?
Remember the 5,25 inch-disks...
zack:
1,44 MB on one 3,5 inch-disk
zack:
640 MB on one cd
calculate this factor only onesmore!
i am sure that we all will see it...
hihi, i love it: :bash:

I think that we could see a return of tape drives. I just saw an internal 30 gig tape drive for $199. The 30 gig tapes are $45.
Not a bad price. About 23 CD's worth of storage.
I currently use a Zip drive, and I have so many Zip disks everywhere! It's getting to be quite a pain. I am thinking about going the tape drive route. Can mirror my whole hard drive in one shot.
I imagine they can make bigger and bigger tapes, but I think that there is only so much info you can put on a CDR-W or DVD-R and then you just can't put anymore on. Kind of like an 8 ounce glass. No matter what you do, you can't fit more than 8 ounces in it.

Now, double-sided double-layered DVDs can store 17gb worth of data.

Tape drives may be cheap... but look at your floppy drive... slow as monkies! (no offence chris)

... I think that DVD-RAM will be next, price permitting. Anyway, how do you fill one up? I don't take up more than 600mb on my harddisk, but then I am quite tidy with my storage.
Next will be Optical devices, or expansions of those PC cards that hold 2GB.
