You can take a look at
http://imaginethat.htmlplanet.com/
I have an article up on that subject after I fiddled around with it for you. It works, but there are some things to avoid. You can read about them above.
My only concern or comment if you will, why would anyone go through that mess (in the source code) to please 14.25% of the viewers with an effect which they dont expect to see anyway ? Before I wrote this message, I answered an email to a reader of the above column who asked the same question. My answer was: it does not matter - it is the fact that it is possible which makes it interesting. Can you think of any other reason ?

In my case it was to please a client. They wanted a fancy DHTML dropdown menu, complete with rollovers. The problem was...the Menu script (from bratta.com) was pretty large, and every attempt of mine to introduse JS rollovers into it caused disaster. I then changed the images to text links, CSS hover. The client did not seem to understand difference between JS rollovers, and CSS hover. They just wanted something the SAME in IE and any Netscape.
But, in the end...you are right. There are always workarounds......and they are usually a pain in the arse to impliment for the end result. Thats the first time I recall having been to imaginethat. Cool site.
