webbot tags

Hey, I am currently revamping a site-http://www.crebiz.com and have seen a lot of tags such as:

<!--webbot bot="Include" U-Include="botinclude.htm" TAG="BODY" startspan -->

and

<!--webbot bot="Include" endspan i-checksum="54970" -->

from the previous site-maker. Are these necessary? I haven't seen them before, and I am probably wrong, but why would a bot care about anything except meta-tags?

I had stuff like that pop into the code of my site when I asked for statistics from my server. It uses stuff like that to track info of surfers. Its easy to take out, but you should keep a copy of the full site on your HD somewhere...better yet, a zip drive.
