HELP PLEASE! I need to have MS Project (.mpp) and MS Word files open in the browser (IE5). Now I know that it is suppose to happen by default - and it does when I test it on the website. But when I access the website from a remote PC which does not have MS Project or Office installed.. click on the hyperlink.. it downloads the file instead of displaying the file in the browser? Obviously I cant view the file because the associated software is not installed on that remote PC. Is there some kind of viewer that needs to be installed? What changes should I make on my webserver.. and how do I do that?

It sounds like your missing just that, the Associated software (Office, MS Project) needed to execute the file. Without that software I don't think you'll be able to view the file, which would explain why it's downloading the file (as your computer doesn't know what to do with that file type)

Is there absolutely no way you can view the file in the browser then? My problem is that we will have hundreds of users on the website that will not have MS Project installed. They will, however, need to view the actual .mpp file ??

I should think not :(. MS Project, unfortunately, has no viewer. I think that your users must have Project installed.
You could transform it into HTML.
Good Luck,
Paul
