We're working to tweak up our board's new layout. Help us out, post all problems you have encountered here!

Hey Jason - The new layout/format looks good so far. The only area that looks a little messed up is the small cell below each post with the icons to mail, check web site, IP Logged etc. It seems the little icons are a litted jumbled there. I bet people are going to go crazy with the avatars, private messaging & the attach file option. The new layout will take a little getting used too, but will seem second nature very soon. Good Luck!

All is great except for the new posts like John said. It says that that function was disabled by the admin.

The search feature should now be working, with a fresh re-index of all the threads/posts.

about the only thing i would change on the appearance side is streaching the board to wider width for higher resolution users, and color smilies! i did recive one flood check warning when checking the list this morning, i will have some more feedback / praise as the day goes on.

the monkey cheers when more options and bananas come along

Could you manage to fix it so I don't have to scroll sideways? The first page - which invited us here needs to be scrolled sideways about 50-100 pixels. Then the report bugs thread was fine, but when I'm typing here, I have to scroll again. (at 800x600)

And using Explorer 4.0 I should add.

Look out, my computer is starting to smoke.

You should really add a couple special treats to the FAQ page. 1. List of the status levels. 2. Pricing and ordering info for the ODP mask.

Other than being extremely slow to load, a lot harder to look at, thoroughly annoying with the constant table down the left side, and generally annoying to look at, it's pretty good. At least I can look forward to the new smileys! (It's the little things in life that make it all worthwhile! :) )

The layout really looks like it was designed for 800x600 users. Personally I like the previous version, which expanded for higher screen resolutions. Then again, this version has more features........

Hmm.. Here are my comments:

- the site is a lot slower. Probably because of all the graphics and ads that now appear.

- the site doesn't look like a forum anymore because it's filled with tons of other stuff around it. I liked the idea of just going to the site and finding the forum with the links of the network sites on the top. It had a nice looking layout (I *love* purple, it's my fav color) and it extended across the screen. It didn't have all the distractions currently being shown.

- Other than those things, I find the site to be good. It is nice to see you partner with a prominent company, just wish they didn't add so much to the sides and ads.

- I struggle now to go through messages because of the load time and I find myself being less patient and closing the site before I get to the message. I really don't want to do that because I enjoy the discussions, but that's how I feel sometimes. I lack patience a lot, but that's my issue on my end. :)

That's it.. Great features the forum has now and I look forward to seeing further development of the site and neat little things added.

I hope I wasn't too harsh.

is there any way you can set the forum properties to 95% for the table width? or is the forum displaying in a cell of the main layout?

this monkey neeeds a weekend!

This is really the only Big Resources site that doesnt integrate very well with the Office.com stuff. The other sites look really great. Good job!

The time is wrong. My time zone is GMT+8, now it is 1841hrs, but GMT+8 on the HTMLForums server is 1941hrs.

I was wondering if there is a problem with the date and timing issues of posts. The indiviual posts seems fine. However, when looking at the Topic thread summary pages, it seems to be giving invalid times and dates of the most recent post.

For Example: I was just in the General Discussion Forum. The top thread was "should Unregistered guests be allowed to post?" It showed the last post as being by willamoose at 8:40PM on 4-5-01. I went into the thread an the last post was by willamoose, but it was 2 days ago.

I'm getting wrong time too. My time reads an hour faster than what it should have been.

This is because of the poll. Whenever somebody votes in the poll, the thread is marked as a "fresh post", and moved up. If the poll voter did not make a post, their name will not be updated with the time. This is done to make sure that polls still being used do not get pushed down and lost.

At the bottom of the forums, it explains what the icons mean, but the explanation for the icons which indicate that there are lots of replies in a thread are wrong.

You probably don't understand me, but go to the bottom of a forum and see for yourself. :)

I assume that you're talking about this image:
http://www.htmlforums.com/images/hotfolder.gif

This is working correctly. It is used for posts that have 150+ posts or 150+ views.

Dave Swift

But the text next to that icon reads:
= more than replies or 150 views.

I assumed this was wrong?

I guess that means more than a certain no. of replies, as stated in the previous versions, but not here.

Has anyone noticed an increase in speed in the last few days?

Actually, now that you mention it...I have. It does seem to come in a lot quicker, and when clicking into a new forum (used to take quite a while) now goes rather timely. You tweaking the server?

On the contrary, I've noticed a significant decrease in speed during the last few days.

I have noticed no change in speed. What have you done, have you moved the SPAM box to its own server, or T3 line? :)

Jason

Well, we finally banned hotlinking on the httpCITY accounts...that freed up about 1,000,000 excessive server calls a day.
