Hi Sabra,
One of the best beginner's guides that I've seen is at: http://www.htmlgoodies.com/
If you go through this page by page you will pick up all the knowledge that you will need to get started. Don't worry, it sounds more painful that it is. HTML is probably the easiest language to program in, since all you are doing is making visual changes with it.
Make sure to read the "primers" before you get into the tutorials. You should really be able to get moving in just a few days.

hi sabra http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif
i knew *absolutely* nothing last august, and i know how terrifying making a web site can be when you know nothing! http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif
luckily there are lots of great resources out there to help you. you will be amazed how much you can pick up so quickly. here are links to a few of the sites that i found most useful when putting my first site together:
http://www.gettingstarted.net
getting started: covers the basics of html, tables and frames
http://www.hotwired.com/webmonkey
webmonkey: covers all the languages in a non-technical way
http://www.geocities.com/karenw
create it~101: general guide designed especially for newbies
what i love most about these sites (and html goodies) is that none of them are full of technical gobbledygook and they never get too complicated.
best of luck,
jalouda

It was a good site, until it changed to membership. Now...not really good, was better.

I have been thinking about learning PHP or MySQL, what are the advantages of learning them and which would be better to learn first? Thx.
P.S. I'm talking about all programming languages (except HTML), not just PHP and MySQL.
