Hi!

To start with this web designing business, you have to have a guideline for you, and only you can do it for yourself, because you know better than anybody else, all about your capabilities, weaknesses and else.

Learn basics of any one from ASP, PHP and/or HTML whatever you think you can do it easily and quickly. Slowly you can gain control of things - if you face any problems post here and read hundreds of newsgroups on the net with very nice people setting online to provide you all kind of help, comments.

Also start using some easy-to-use graphics softwares like, PSP, 2020, Photo Impact etc., i must not suggest you not to start with Photo Shop it is tough in the start.

Surf the web, search for new sites and see how people code there sites.

Thats all what i can suggest you to start at this stage, there are so many talented and expeirenced people on this board - let them suggest for you something also.

thank you.
Sounds like good advice.
i've never heard of those graphics programs before. wher can i get them, and are there any freeware or shareware versions?

I use paintshop pro 6 although it is not shareware or freeware it is quite an outstanding image editor, I have yet to learn all the options. There is a downloadable version on http://www.jasc.com, I suggest you download it and get the feel for it. With the skills to create your own graphics you can then make better web sites in result.

I'm downloading as we speak. I have noticed that also. That the really good looking web sites are more graphics intensive.....
Thanks for your help

I'm in the same boat, mofro and can tell you - hang around in here, it's the best and I've been into a lot of webmaster/html sites. Many are pretty decent, but I come back here whenever I feel the need or more often, when I have questions.
Speaking of that - good luck with what you're working on there. I am in the beginning stages and would like to get good at this myself, maybe via the board we can help each other along! :)
Good luck - I'm sure you'll conquer it!

You will never be refused to any help and/or any answer to your post, HTML Forum is the best, full of generous webmasters, ready to do anything for anybody.

This is most active and busiest Board on the net, I believe.

Beleive me Jeni I am prepared. I used to do volunteer work for Yahoo Geocities in their chatrooms, I was answering about 15 questions per minute and trust me it goes alot faster than message boards.

Eforms and R-Russell - you're the best! I believe this is one of the busiest forums because from the experiences I've had, this is the one I like the most - and I've been on many.
I think it's really great that you're willing to take time out to do this for people like me struggling through this process all by their lonesome and one day, I hope to be doing what you're doing.
Just so you always know, I appreciate more than I know how to say. I'm not kidding when I say I'm in this all by myself and you all on this board have made me feel welcomed, even when I sound like a dunce :D and the help has been priceless.
Don't go away!!
Well, now that I've gushed, watch for me - I've only just gotten warmed up and will most likely be leaning heavily on everyone in here!
One thing I know well, is my field so always remember, if you ever want or need some info on fitness and nutrition, I'm here and free to you. I know it's not much to offer and you're probably all young and healthy, but sometimes something happens to someone you love or care about and you may find yourselves wanting more info on something, so keep that in mind - it's all I can offer at this point.

Meanwhile, I"m going to be a major pest!!! :D

It is also people like you who give us our reputations for being so helpful, in return we in most ways should be thanking you. When we here people like you who appreciate our help so much it makes us want to help even more, so in result the more we help you the more you help us:)

If you ever need private help my icq# is 69611910

I hope I can help you soon!

Russel, that is such a great attitude. You know, that is what I love about the net - people do help each other and believe it or not,:D, blondie here has been able to help people with some things and it makes me feel so good to do so. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Some people think I've totally shut myself down and buried myself in the computer, and it's true to an extent, but there are reasons for it and this is one of them. It's like a whole different world where people really can and do come together in a way unlike any other. I feel more at home on the net than I ever would in some tavern on a Saturday night or some such thing, which is the focal point of the majority of the population where I come from. Beer, bars and brats....
I'll add you to my ICQ. I wrote down your number, am going to reboot after I'm done in here and I think I can send you my number through ICQ, can't I? I haven't used it much lately but if I remember correctly I can. If not, I'll let you know in here.
Like I said, you all are the best!

Some of the best learning tools are online. This forum is a great place to get answers when your stuck. Heres a list of links to tutorials, webmaster information, and a whole lot more. This should get you under way without spending a dime.

That is a great site! I saw it on another topic and mentioned how much I like it. Bookmarked it - it's now my first entry after my crash. I'll probably be able to eliminate a lot of the sites I bookmarked for HTML help and all the other stuff, and this is a better start than I could have imagined! Thanks so much.

It wouldn't surprise me that the link isn't there any more. This thread is 9 years old.
