Anyone know about BB Guns?
I'm thinking of buying one, they look quite fun.
Can anybody tell me which one looks best and maybe more powerful;

Are they any good, good value?
Thanks in advance!,

They are too much like a toy and people don't learn respect for them as much as a weapon should have.
For target practice, try one of --><<-these instead->> (http://daisy.ifworld.com/cgi-bin/daisy/products_winchester.html)

my uncle accidentally shot my dad in the face when they were 15, and all 4 of my dads front teeth cracked and the roots died. He had to get them taken out and has had partials ever since.

no-one can deny the dangers they pose to eyesite, teeth, etc...., but if used properly they are damned good fun.
I still have one tucked away in my atic, i would always use them where there was no-one else around, not look down the 'hole' to see if there were any pellets in there, setup a little target practice, etc...
Out of sheer curiosity to see how much one would hurt i hid behind a pillar and stuck my ass out for my m8 to shoot at from about 15m, damn it stung!!:D , that was the only foolish time i used it.
Jonathan they're all much of a muchness, 30 quid is about the right price!
I went clay pigeon shooting today and me shoulder's aching like hell, guess i'll have to have a beer then!! :)
On that note of clay pigeon shooting, out here in spain (where they practically make their own laws) the traditional clay pigeon shooting is not done with caly discs but real live birds!!! with their wings clipped so they can't fly away!!! (needles to say i was using the clay variety)

wait, they can't fly? so you just stand around and shoot at birds walking around on the ground?? how very disturbing, not like shooting flying birds is any less distrubing, but at least they'd have a chance to get away or something if they could fly...very disturbing

I wouldnt imagine that they are walking around but placed on the fireing machine and flung into the air.
Which kinda makes it worse.
As for bullfighting... don't get me started. Not knocking Spain as all countries need to sort out the way they treat animals to one extent or another especially the UK.
Don't see why clay pigeons can't be used?

Quite correct entimp, they are loaded into the normal firing mechanism!I also don't know why they do it, i have asked one of them why and the answer i got was 'because it's more fun'. I wasn't going to argue with him while he had a shotgun under his arm.

Never been to see a bullfight, but i have ran with bulls, my town has ' bull runs' 2 or 3 times a year, basically the center of town gets cornered off, windows blocked up and a load of bulls let loose around the streets, no harm done to bulls and it's quite good fun. Ofcourse there's safety cages all around for yout to run into.
Kemikal, i ahd to laugh at the thought of you going to bed picturing spanish blokes shooting birds just walking around the place.
Leo24: i'd like to know if C@ckfighting is still practised there in Spain. I posted a C@ckfighting site for review in d forums last month and i got some very disturbed responses as well. Could this be a case of culture shock ?

hmm, not **** fighting, dog fighting does still go on though, mainly on beaches in the wee hours of the mornings. It's quite under control now but you still see news articles about a town waking up to a beach full of dead dogs.! Fortunately this only happens in sparcely populated zones, if it happened in tourist areas, well there'd b no tourists!

It might have something to do with our cultures, as long as I've been alive, those sports have been illegal here in the US as far as I know, and being a vegetarian, I don't even eat meat, much less support the harm or destruction of animals for amusement. I rarely even kill bugs, instead I trap them and let them back outside...except mosquitos and ****roaches...those 2 insects/bugs I sometimes make exceptions for.

I'm firmly with Kate on this one.
Even though I've been vegetarian for 23 years, I'm not opposed to some forms of hunting. I would quantify this by saying I only approve when the animal is hunted for food and not for fun.
The landlord of my local only eats meat that he has hunted and killed himself or that has been killed by people he knows treat animals ethically. He's totally against mass farming and slaughter house methods. Can't say that I entirely agree with him, but I do agree that too many people are hypocritical on this matter. I strongly believe that if you're prepared to eat the flesh, you should also be prepared to hunt, kill and skin the animal yourself. Yet how many meat eaters have ever skinned a rabbit? Not very many.
As for fighting animals for sport...EEEWWWWW!!!
That totally sickens me.
My dog is a Pit Bull cross and I have to have her muzzled, insured and micro-chipped. Her mother ran away from people who were breeding her for dog fighting and my friends conspired to make sure the pups never fell into the hands of these people. As all my friends and neighbours say, she's the softest, most affectionate dog they've ever known.

It would have very little to do with culture shock but more inappropriate use of animals. It is also illegal in the European Union and many other countries.
I am a vegitarian but don't have issue with people eating meat. I don't eat meat simply as I don't trust industry associated with it. As Blueangel says... how many meat eaters could find and prepare their own meat! Meat eaters have no idea of what they are eating and the treatment of the animals involved.
For example... who here thinks bacon is naturally salty? Think again. I could give you all a thousand horror stories regarding what you eat but I won't. You have the right to eat it. What I would say is think about what you eating and find out a little more about how the meat industry goes about it.
As for thinking you got some disturbed responses because of culture shock... Sheeesh!
