for the company I work for, its all legit-shiznit
for personal...its ftp sites....
All my programs are all legal and correct of course, I wouldn't dream of using http://astalavista.box.sk/ to search for illegal utilities located on warez sites. Who else is going to pay for Bill Gates court cases. :D
Anyway, you never mentioned your own personal preference. :)

Since I work for a decent company, who purchases the many software titles we need...and they have authorized me to work from my home/ laptop on occaison, I have legal versions of the software. This would be a lot harder for the freelance guy, who has to buy all his own and then MAKE money. I mean photoshop alone costs $600, maybe then youd want to run Homesite or something..another couple-a-hundred$, and thats the bare bones minimum.
If there was a freelance guy, who wanted to start with no capital to invest, he could: run a LINUX OS, use The GIMP (UNIX graphics program similar to photoshop...but free) and run Linux's advanced editor(comes bundled in 6.1 and is similar to Homesite) which will color code the text, and help debug a little. I am not sure if Linux is still free, but if it is...you could do some decent design work, with some cool tools until the $$$ starts flowing in. In any event, its a cheap(free) way to learn and get some experience. Better than surfing hacker/ porn sites for cracked trial versions.

Hi All!
I have few but very nice softwares like, PSP 6.2, Gif Construction Set, PS v5.5, Eye Candy, Fleaming Pears's Blade Pro, Ulead Gif Animation v3, and Plug-in Manager, I spend a whole lot of money in last three years to enjoy my love for graphic desinging.
I also use some free softwares like image dicer, 20-20 (another graphic program), and some background texture creating softwares and lots of free special effects plug-ins.
I have evluation copies of PSP 7, and Ulead Photo Impact v6.
PSP 7 i will upgrade to my existing PSP 6.2, I have all the program to purchase Ulead Photo Impact v6, as soon its evulation period will expire, I start liking it, it is nice program somewhat similar to PSP.

not that I support warez, or ftpz in any way **cough, cough**.... if I wanted to find one, I would be sure to look at http://www.fxpmatrix.com/ . if you cant find one in the gen/anon pubs, try requesting one...you should get a response pretty quick.

If you really, really like the software, buy it. For other software, also buy it. If you don't like it, why do you want it for?

I personally hate warez. I don't really mind if someone wants to rip off a multimillion dollar company once in a while but the software authors who work alone and count on that income in order to feed their kid(s), pay rent, etc should NOT ever get ripped off just because some low life is too cheap to spend a few bucks for a quality product. If you like the product well enough to use it, you really should buy it. I have always wanted a ZR-1 Corvette, but Im not going to go steal one just because I can't afford to buy it.

Hi Tony!
Great feeling you have, We should think of the authors of those programs also. But, one thing - MicroSoft pays a huge amount of money to the writer of Hotmail, similarly these big companies paying a handsome amount to there programmers, is that money is not enough for them to feed there childrens.
I don't support warez also, but that is a questin always keep poping in my mind.

I agree, I dont want to rape the wallet of a lowely programmer or whatever..... but I also dont want companies like adobe to rape my wallet with programs starting at $600. thats extreme bull sh*t.
If I make money with a program, I will buy it.... but for personal use or non-profit... those companies can f*ck off.

Hi!
Adobe softwares are always very costly, that why I never use them - PS I hate. The Adobe software I have it Exchange, just to write my PDF files.

Adobe may be expensive, but PS is definitely the #1 Graphics program out there. Sure, PSP is good, but it doesnt have all the features that PS does.

Hi JohnM!
You are right upto some extent, PS is a good program, have some very good features in it, but as we already discussed in the same post above and/or some other post in the same forum - it is tough to learn. As PSP is very easy to learn. PS and PSP have almost 90% same features, and above all it is very very cheap - anybody can afford it easily.

I guess it all depends. If I want major horsepower, a slick look, tons of high end features.......I buy the BMW of the graphics software world. Noone is arguing that PSP isn't a good product, or that it won't do the deed. What you've got to appreciate here, is that PS has the luxuriousl advantage of capeability of web, print, and any other media use. Many people use it for a lot more than what we need it for. PSP may be a better buy for the web developer, but not the print/ media developer.

Hi Dr. Web!
We are all agree that PS is very well known to graphic industry people - it an old software, PSP not that old, it is new but with almost all the advantages of PS are included, except very very few, we count on fingure are missing. In my opinion if not everyone, every third person will going to buy the PSP due to the price tag.

What about pirated software? Warez you still have to download, but pirated software you can install in minutes.
