Can somebody help me please.
I want to know how to make an icon download as a bookmark when people bookmark my site.
I read an article about this, but typically cannot find it now I need it.
Thanks very much

Hi Prowler,

If you don't have a graphics editor that can generate .ico file types, try this online icon editor:

That favicon thing is pretty neat. It's a shame that more sites don't use it. I wonder if it will last. Has anyone heard of what future browsers will do with it? Is IE 5 supporting it? Does Netscape?

Hi Renolds,
The favicon is and IE only trick and hopefully they will continue to support it. One drawback of it is that the icon resides in your cache, and when your cache files expire or are cleaned, your icon goes out with it, I do believe you can create a seperate directory and place the icon in there and link to it, then you don't loose it, but I havent tried this.
Netscape does not support it and probably never will looking in the direction they are heading with the preview of NS6 now out.

To learn more about the IE5 favicon check out the tutorial http://www.123webmaster.com/Tutorials/FavoriteIcon.html or visit http://www.favicon.com/
Good luck.
