Bouley86.com Profiles
http://profiles.bouley86.com

it's an AIM profile website, similar to subprofile, but better because I made it. I started with a couple php scripts that I found and then edited them and completely redid them so they're really my own now (they don't resemble the old ones at all) It's amazing how much I learned while making this site. BUT ANYWAY, please have a look at it and tell me what you think about the appearence/functionality..etc.. and please keep in mind I'm a 16 year old junior in high school with a part time job.

Thanks!

I don't see what's so special about writing text for someone's AIM bio.

I'm with you one this one rjl, I don't get it...but I'll still review the site...

The top graphic is very grainy looking and somewhat hard to read, and I hate the font!! hate it, but there's a story behind why I hate that font in particular that I won't go into...

Maybe a little more color is in order for the site as well, it's not very visually appealing.

All in all though, I'd say the setup wasn't bad, it's very straightforward, there really isn't much to navigate on the site, you either sign up or don't, so the 3 text links you have at the bottom are ok, but you might wanna ensure that the site fits into a specific size, like 800x600 so everything is on the page when you bring it up with no scrolling. For some reason there is a huge horizontal scroll space, like three times the size of the information you have in there.

Lose the timer :) no one who goes to your site needs to know how many people have been there, and most hosts have a stats page you can go to to check your visitor numbers on your own...it's just not a very professional thing to have on a site.

hope this helps some

lol they all look alike to me. He will get some customers though. They all usually do... Even ones like subprofile.com which cause the owner to see like 10 popups while they configure it also get tons of visitors...

What I'm wondering though is why my aim quiz Which Celtic God/Goddess are you isn't springing to life. I guess the what type of Alcohal are you quizes seem more popular with our age group. :-/

Hmm as for the look of the profile itself. It looks pretty close to subprofiles look and has similar things in it not all of the same though. But I doubt the normal visitor would notice. You may want to work on making it stand out a little more though compared to subprofiles ones. Like think of some sort of new feature that the other has yet to add. Off the top of my head I can't really think of any sorry but I always liked their random addition if you want to add something like that. Uh another thing you could add which is somewhat new is something like a random song from a list the user places in the system. I don't know how hard it would be to add or if many of the users would take the time to enter in a list of the songs(maybe from a winamp playlist?) but I bet this would draw your profile a little more attention from the real web savy sort of gen xers like ourselves. ;-)

I agree with the top banner if you can't do one yourself, graphic wise (I too was pretty bad at it til I got the hang of layers.) then there are some sites that have generators which work pretty well. Just goto google or yahoo and type free banner generator.

Thanks for the input everyone. I will definately work on a different graphic, I just kinda through that one together in oh, two seconds (obviously). I do understand how it's sorta unorginal blah blah but hey, it was my first crack at php so i gave it a go. I'm proud of it, and for real tha's what matters. I do understand that a lot of the features are the same as the other profile sites, it's hard to think of things that people want it there (if you have any ideas throw em at me, i'd be glad to take a whack at it). The one thing i think ive only seen one other place is the photo album and that was a friends idea. but thanks for all the input!
